I see Torain being kept. You've got to be brainless to keep an unproven late round pick in Royster over him. And he's only played in one preseason game, but has been healthy....
The one thing ive always dug about shanny is his ability to take a late round draft pick tail back and plug him in. Im just saying, I think if you keep torain you run a very high risk of losing a really good football player in royster.
Im all about hightower and helu filling those first two spots, but i dont really see what Torain brings over either one of those guys thats different. Royster at least has some slashing skills

Shanahan didn't come out and say it but he's strongly intimating that Hightower is the starter Week 1 .. big surprise

I apologize in advance if someone has already posted it but I didn't see it anywhere

Either way, I'm excited about what we have at running back. It's nice to see us keep up with two back trends in the NFL.
Pretty much how I feel. With the o-line making the "Big jump", as Shanahan calls it, from year one to year two in this scheme, I feel we have the backs to make the most of it. It would be nice to have Torrain if Hightower were to go down. Any way you look at it, these guys should make the QB's job a lot easier.

I hope Hightower is held out. No need to risk injury. He earned the starting job. As for Torain, he's shown that he simply can't stay healthy for any period of time. I like the way he runs but with Helu sitting there it may be time to turn the page.

He's earned it. He's the better all around back.
I think Torain still makes it. Royster possibly to the PS.

Keim is reporting that Royster will also play against TB. I agree with skinsfan69, no need to play Hightower. He's shown what he can do.
9. Rookie running back Evan Royster, who has not played the past two games, will play Thursday vs. Tampa Bay.

Helu can only have 5 reps a game and still be a threat to make a big play. Torain needs to be the workhorse back or else he won't be that productive.

I think next game we'll see a healthy dose of Torain vs. Royster. That's the battle that needs to be settled. Hightower and Helu are secured, so I doubt we'll see them except for maybe a series.

exactly -- its nice to have a decent stable of backs. None of them have really done much in the NFL, except for Hightower kinda, but they all seem like solid plug and play backs

Hightower has made some plays for AZ. Wasn't he a good threat for them when they went to the SB. He was the third down pass catching back.
