So this weekend I had planned to go down to the Outer Banks NC in Rodanthe where my family has a spot. Ive only been able to make it down twice this year due to time and finances. I always go the weekend before Labor Day as a way to end the summer and gotten a couple people together as well to do a little fishing and partying. A couple day ago Florida was gettin a catogory 2 hurricane, this morning Wilmington North Carolina is getting a catogory 3 hurrincane late Friday night which is just a little south of where Ill be. Just a month ago I was camping and fishing in 100+ degree weather, should I continue my summer of extreme weather? Probably not, so F HURRICANES!!!!!!!

..........Actually your getting my Hurricane that has mercifully swung East so it will now effectively miss Florida (except for a brush on the Atlantic coast). Sorry about your weekend

I was looking forward to watching the Skins game Thursday night down there. Something about being down at the beach makes everything better, grilling seafood, margaritas, sun and sand and then Jon Beck going deep down field to quiet the hatters...it doesnt get much better than that

I've been to Rodanthe.
Camped at the KOA in a cabin with a very squeeky fan.

If you own property down there you have a pass when they close down the island. I went down back in 1991 for hurrican BOB. It brushed the Outer Banks and was gone over night. I actually made CNN news as they followed us through a small store. They showed us getting tape, water, and then beer. They left the store so we put back the tape and water and just purchased the beer. We saw winds around 80 MPH but they did not do much damage.

I'll have to say if I had the chance to do that again I would pass. When we left for Nags Head the storm only had gust around 60mph but it pickup allot of power over the day. It went to a catigory 2 in just a couple of hours. I have pictures of us as the only car going into Nags Head and the long line of trafic leaving.
