With all these tough decisions and players looking good, I'm worried about the redskins players that are cut and getting picked up by other teams. I'm especially worried about the eagles (and giants, to a lesser extent) cherry-picking.

The eagles have been known to do that in the past- like with Antonio Dixon, who currently is one of their starting DTs. They need some cheap depth at some spots and are probably drooling at the possibilities with who the redskins cut. The Giants are on the opposite spectrum because they have been really inactive in free agency and also have a couple of injuries at key spots. They are looking for depth and also looking at some key positions to bolster like wide receiver.

Both teams would be chomping at the bit to give Banks a chance, even given his injury history. Both teams may also be looking for a third or fourth wideout and watching the redskins roster closely -- either at Terrence Austin or Donte Stallworth. Or maybe even one of the redskins rookies not named Hankerson -- he's definitely one to hold on to :)

That'd be intieresting if Stallworth went back to the Eagles

There is a rumor, and I don't know how legit it is, that Banks will not play this Thursday (actually I think that is confirmed) and will most likely be placed on injured reserve. Again, I haven't been able to confirm it so for now this is just a rumor.

But if true, I guess it's one way to get around having to make a decision on whether to cut him. But it also means no Banks for the entire year.

So if Stallworth went to the Eagles and Banks goes to IR (I also saw he wasn't suiting up Thurs), does that mean Niles makes the team?

I mean I don't think Stallworth is going to the Eagles, just for the record. I was just responding to warriorzpath's post

I think right now we're looking at

Moss
Gaffney
Armstrong
Hankerson
Austin

If we keep a 6th, my guess is it's Paul and Stallworth probably doesn't have much value as a 6th inactive receiver. Paul may not either...this year. But he'd be a part of our future.

But I think it depends on how much confidence they have in Hankerson and Austin to be the #4 and #5 receivers

1: Moss
2: Gaffney
3: Austin
4: Armstrong
5: Hankerson

I really think that is what the order is going to be - Austin is just too damn good to keep off the field and if my top 3 are on the field at the same time, it would be the perfect opportunity for Moss to drop into the slot and Gaffney and Austin to play wide

That's what I'd like it to be. Just not sure it will be

I think that last WR spot will come down to Stallworth/Paul.

edit: Very well could be Paul since Stallworth doesn't play special teams.

may as well give it to paul -- keep a young guy who has got upside since he's not going to get a whole lot of playing time any way.

paul can go on the PS and wait a year. i'm surprised no one thinks stallworth is going to make the team, he's the 3rd best WR we have as far as production. If he's cut (or austin) they'll definitely find work.

Paul would be picked up off waivers before he ever came near or practice squad.
