Insane crazy. I was in DC, Baltimore and New York last week and listened to sports radio (the Fan) in each city. It is freaking insane how the fans are going nuts based on how their teams are playing in the preseason. Dumb.
The winning teams use preseason the way it is supposed to be used, to take a really good look at all of the scrubs in order to fill out the bottom half roster correctly. Plus they do not run any of their bread and butter plays on offense and defense. So the winning teams usually lose most of the preseason games.
While the bad teams feel like they have something to prove and really try hard to win them all. They play their starters longer and thus against the other teams scrubs, so they have a false sense of improvement. Kind of like last week where we played our starters the entire first half and the Steelers starters only played the first series or two.
Once the regular season starts, it will be completely diffrent level of play. Similar to the rise in play when the playoffs start.

Our starters were not played for a longer period than the Steelers for some.....BS false sense of security. The Skins have made wholesale changes over much of the team with many occurring in the projected starting ranks. There is much to be seen and just trying to get them some semi-legit game time playing together for familiarity sake.
The Steelers on the other hand made few changes to their projected starting line-up and much less to be gained by playing their starters longer.

Dang, I missed the game. I cut on NFL Network and ESPN and saw no games so I figure none on. Late I switched over to FOX to see the game was just about over. I'm not missing the game tonight and that's all that matters.

The final score doesn't matter in preseason. But performance of the players does. If Trent Williams was getting blown up by some 2nd stringer or Rex Grossman somehow couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, then one should be concerned.

You have to keep everything in perspective. It was preseason and yes some teams only keep their starters out for 1 or 2 series, but I'm actually happy MS did what he did keeping the 1st string out so long. There was no OTA or no formal ones so by keeping them out MS was not only able to judge their performance but they were able to try and work on playing as a unit and were able to learn the blocking better. What I would have hoped to see is this week the starters staying out again for a whole half, then in preseason wk3 they could stay out for 3 quarters. Then the last game the starters could play 1 or 2 series and then evaluate all the newbies for the rest of the game. This would build cohesiveness and their endurance for the first game

I still think the eagles will be really good this year, and that we will beat them

I never said the Redskins played their starters longer to create that illusion. I just gave that as an example where one team plays its starters much longer than the other team and the Redskins fans went nuts on the radio Monday talking about how great we are now. It happens every year.

Of course there may be some concern on part of the Eagles, it's just silly how crazy people get over this preseason stuff.

Exactly. So many people all jacked up over the Skins solid 1st half against mostly Steeler backups, people thinking the sky is falling in Philly because of last night... It's all so dumb. Yeah Philly looked like crap last night, but they looked pretty darn good last week, and they'll probably look pretty good next week. Who cares?

I'll remind everyone again that the Lions had a 4-0 preseason the year they went 0-16 in the regular season.

And I'm sure if we come out tonight and tee off on Curtis freaking Painter we'll have Skins fans in droves predicting a 12 win season.

That Lions preseason had three games in which they faced their fellow bottom-dwellers that season: Bungles, Bills, Browns. The Giants were their only quality competition, and they barely squeezed that one out.
