Couple of questions I'd like to hear people's responses to

If we have a top 5 defense next season, an average offense, and we miss the playoffs next year with an 8-8 record, would you want Gibbs gone?

If Smoot wants Champ Bailey money, would you retain him (knowing he's the emotional leader on defense)?

Clearly, if Samuels doesn't agree to a restructuring, he's gone. What if he agrees to restructure? Do you still upgrade at the LT position?

If the cap situation is such that you could either sign Dwight Freeney, or Mike Williams (mind you Ramseyfan, this isn't cap hell), which one would you sign?

I can only answer 1 question,if Gibbs for any reason besides injury sticks Brunell in a game as starter and brunell lookes like he did this yr and Gibbs defends him,then its time for him to go and take Brunell with him

Question 1: Gibbs stays if we have that year, but an offensive coordinater will be necessary.

Question 2: He is not going to get that money anyway, so never mind that question.

Question 3: Dwight Freeney is only good on turf due to his speed, so I take Mike Williams.

Fist of all Dwight Freeney is good on any field and is probably one of the best players in the NFL right now. The colts aren't gonna let him go. Second we are in cap hell and don't have the money to sign a player like that. I think we should resign Smoot and Pierce and let Samuels walk and draft Alex Barron from Florida sate.

Gibbs gone? Never! there are 53 players and countless frontoffice clowns that will go first. I would soonerd fire my wife and child...

I would like Smoot back but not if he wants Bailey's contract. We simply can't give every player we sign the highest contract at his position in the league. the cap just won't allow it.

Samuels needs to stay. He has to restructure though. LT is simply to hard a position to just replace. He has not performed up to potential but he is still somewhat young and he plays possibly the 2nd most crucuial position on a football team. He will be to hard to replace. And also the Redskins need to get some cohesion on the O-line. We can't throw a new 5 out there next season and expect to have a great line, it doesn't work that way. He must stay!

I would go Mike Williams simply becasue big free agent splashes never work for us. Time to try a new way. However, if a great pass rusher was available with our top pick I might consider that over Mike Williams...

No way. Gibbs needs at least 3 seasons.

I might criticize Gibbs' playcalling, but I'm not nuts....the guy has what it takes and then some.

Either way, after 2 seasons no, I would not want Gibbs gone. In fact I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for his entire 5 years, that's how much trust I have in him. Some may call it blind faith, but I call it trusting and having faith in a coach that's a proven winner and a hall of famer to boot. If you can't trust someone with his credentials who can you trust?

Question 2: If Smoot wants Bailey money I show him the door and dare him to find someone that would be willing to pay him that. Smoot is in the upper 1/3 of the league as far as corners go, but he's not worth top 5 money. I'd plug in Harris and move on.

Question 3: If Samuels agrees to re-do his deal that's where my concerns about the LT spot end.

Question 1: Nope. 3 seasons minimum, even then I wouldnt want him gone. Whatever happens, Snyder better not fire that guy thats all I can say. I would say if we have a sh*tty offense again next season, I would like to see a real Offensive Coordinator in though.

Question 2:It pains me to say this but no. Champ Bailey type money is just too much, we cant afford it. He might even be worth that money in the long run, but we just cant. I think we should (and apparently have) offer him somthing like Springs, if he likes it here as much as he claims, he'll say. Anything much higher, I think we have to let him walk. I'll be really really upset if he leaves though.

Question 3: If he restrucutres, thats good enough for me.

Question 4: Freeney far and away. He is proboly the best defensive end in the league outside of Julius Peppers and the guy is just amazing. We'll get to watch him in the playoffs and he is nasty. The type of pass rush he gets is awsome. Freeney has already proven he can play at the pro level, Williams hasent so that alone awnsers the question.

Freeney will either be tagged with the franchise or transition tag so there is no way he is coming here for no compensation. And Freeney is an excellent pass rusher which means he is going to get a huge contract. He will probably get higher offers than Kearse got last year and the Redskins could not afford him either. The Redskins can not make a big free agency splash this offseason...at least I hope not.

According to this Freeney is under contract for 2005 so I don't know why we are even discussing him being available?
