I had a pretty decent crop this year with the hot and wet weather we had, so I thought I would show you guys some pictures.
Some people get confused by hops, they are not a grain, they grow on vines and make little buds and that is the part used in beer.
This particular variety is Cascade.
They can grow up to 40 feet high, mine are about 20.
The big one in the foreground is about the size of your thumb.
If you've ever had Sierra nevada Pale Ale you have had Cascade hops.

That's pretty cool. What do you do with them? By that I mean do you brew your own beer or do you sell your crops, or both?

I was an avid brewer at one time but havent been for years.
I usually pick them when I have a good crop and give them to guys that I know from my brewing club.

Ounces per gallon actually....
A lot of home brew is made in five gallon batches, all of mine were.
The most hops I ever used was 10 ounces and that was a fairly bitter IPA.

I use 10 ounces on the regular. If you add them later you get more flavor and less bitter.
