Never been this excited for a QB to be starting since Mark Brunell. And i'm not joking either.
Rex is seriousl gonna change people's opinions of him this season, and I hope the top brass are sensable and sign him to a 3-4 year extension while we can groom a QB for the future.

I believe Rex will probably play the whole 1st half
Does that mean no one worse then Sean Locklear will play the whole 1st half up front? I mean I'm intrigued to see the Knives salesman as much as the next guy but not with a potential starting QB back there.

Yeah my boss was talking about this today. Apparently Banks has a big attitude, i never saw him as that type of guy before either. I think SS alluded to that a incident may have happened with Banks that we dont know about, in addition to the stabbing thing. Maybe it was his locker-room attitude.
And although i think kickoff returners are now significantly less important i agree with Buster that punt returns is where he needs to be a weapon at. Although I was more impressed with his punt return then his kick returns there’s a much more important duty when returning punts; making sure you don’t drop it…. which banks has had a little bit of trouble with. I say if he drops one kick off or one punt in the pre-season hes gone. Either way I think hes on the outside looking in and is gonna have to have a bunch of nice returns, no drops, and one TD return or doesn’t make it. He was the funnest thing to watch on the team last year and I hope he makes it, just not sure at what cost.
Where kickoff returns are concerned, I look for ST coordinators to devise schemes where kickoffs will be higher and shorter with hopes of being able to pin the receiving team inside the twenty as opposed to just kicking the ball into the endzone and the receiving team being awarded the twenty yd. line automatically. Savvy ST coordinators will take advantage of the rule.

Probably by Week four of the season, a number of teams will be using directional strategies on kickoffs.
And you'll need a good return man to force other teams to kick touchbacks to get even decent field position. I expect leaguewide points scored to decrease significantly this season.

Lol, that reminds me of that mis-subtitled Hitler scene from the underground.
"With John Beck out Rex Grossman will likely play the entire first half. However we're worried about our depth up front and the ability of our backups to protect him."
"No problem, Sean Locklear is a suitable backup that will keep Rex on his feet."
"Ummm La Fehur...Locklear"
"Locklear is doubtful for tonights game. Willie Smith and Clint Oldenberg will backup Williams and Brown at Tackle."

"Anyone who wanted the Redskins to draft a receiver leave now"

Unless of course he bombs tonight.... then we all can reflect on this comment. ;)
Don't get me wrong, I like that when he started the last few games he looked better then McNabb to me. Am I hating on McNabb, possibly, but I didn't want him here to begin with and didn't think he would fit this scheme. I also felt he is not the McNabb everyone knew from the past years. All that happened was that McNabb proved some of us right.
I don't think Grossman is a star QB but I do think he can get the job done given if the OL blocks, creates openings for the RB's, and we have more weapons other then Moss and AA.

totally agree with you and this is only preseason. No one wants to divulge all their sneaky tricks right now. So I'm guessing most teams will simply kick through the endzone so there is no injuries prior to the season starting.
