I think Gregg Williams just stepped up his game planning.. Now the Eagles have more than one weapon to account for, but they still can't stop the run..

let's not forget that phili lost two of its best secondary players this year as well as a very underrated LB in emmons. I still think the division is up in the air but this trade makes phili a lot better right away on offense. So who do we defend him with? Do u think we should double team him most of the time since phili won't have anyone lining up in the other WR spot that is going to require too much attention? I think I may have to change my opinion on who I want us drafting now and go with Sean taylor. I know this may sound strange but I think he has good speed, size, and strength to match up w/Owens.

jdlea:

Owens is a complainer and an egomaniacal pain. But he did not "bitch his way onto a new team".

He and the coaching staff in SF just did not see eye to eye about anything including who should play QB, who should get the ball on deep routes, how many times a game they should call deep routes, whether white wine goes better with poached salmon or red wine.

Owens had the hammer because he had a contract that let him walk.

Now comes the "problem". He missed an NFL deadline but it appears that according to his contract - which superceded the NFL deadline because of the way it was worded and because it had already been approved by the league and the NFLPA - there was a problem with him being a free agent.

People are saying the Ravens got screwed. I don't get that at all. If the special master was about to make Owens a free agent, the Ravens got their second round pick back from SF AND they got a 5th round pick. For what? They traded for a player that wasn't tradeable? Wouldn't the Skins love to get a 5th round pick for doing something like scratching their ass? that's what the Ravens did.

The Eagles come out of this looking like dumbasses. If the master was about to make TO a free agent, why send a DE to SF and a 5th rounder to Baltimore? Why not just wait it out and sign Owens to the deal he agreed to and keep the player and the draft pick?

The lesson of this case is that teams and the league need to be very careful in the contracts that they sign and approve if there are any deviations from the standard terminology. It can come back to bite you in the butt. Let's hope Vinnie has been very diligent in that regard...

:smashfrea the iggles finally got a player who can catch a pass,so what?he's only 1 guy fellows.i do'nt think he would have made a difference in this year's championship game.the eagles would have found a way to choke like always.i still think the division is a toss up next year, regardless of this trade.

another good thing now that I think about it is that atleast he'll probably only average 6 or 7 catches a game unlike a certain potential homerun at any time like a certain Mr. Portis. this still sucks and sets a bad precedent. I can't wait to hear the phili fans boo him the first time he drops a ball or gives up on a route. It's gonna be fun watching the implosions in that team the next couple of years. let the show begin

Philly may finally have a guy that can catch passes, but they don't have a QB that can throw them to him!!!! That will get TO's mouth going and the iggles going down hill fast.
I think we should probably double team him in any case. Who else do they have to go to?
Bring it on Iggles!!!!
