Redskins Hatters In The MediaNYCskinfan82 08-04-2011, 03:26 PM They bad mouth us for bringing in new guys, Arizona sign like 40 new guys and they praise them. SmootSmack 08-04-2011, 03:29 PM To me it's like weather reports. A meterologist could say "Today's high was 42 degrees. Yesterday those numbers could drop as a cold front moves in from the midwest. Those of you on the outskirts of Warpath County may see a few snow flakes during your morning commute, but with temperatures staying just above freezing we're not expecting much more than a dusting on the ground" But most people just hear "Snow!!!" Similarly, a sports media guy could say "The Redskins have removed some of the biggest distractions by trading McNabb and Haynesworth. And with guys like Orakpo and Williams they have the foundation to be good for several years to come. However, they chose once again not to address their QB situation and now have two journeymen 30 year olds battling out for a starting spot. Unless one of them surprises us, I don't see them winning too many games this year" All we hear is "I don't see them winning" NC_Skins 08-04-2011, 03:34 PM Actually, it's more like "Be a mediocre team that has a history of bad personnel decisions and get criticized until you start winning." I can't emphasize this enough. We have been dreadful for a decade (more actually) so we deserve this bad press. I find it funny that many Skins fans are in such denial that we laugh at the Lions, Raiders, and Bengals, but have had one of the worst records over the past years that pretty much puts us in line with them. We are going to continue to get bad press until this organization starts winning. That said, everything I've seen over this past Draft/FA off-season has been nothing but positive. I think some of you guys are looking for the bad press or not liking it because they aren't riding our nuts like they do the Patriots. SmootSmack 08-04-2011, 03:50 PM I think all my teachers hated me back in the day because I used to get a lot of Bs ESPN's Post-Lockout Grades (Matt Williamson) Washington Redskins Key additions: Barry Cofield, Santana Moss, Josh Wilson, Stephen Bowen, Chris Chester, Jammal Brown (re-signed), Jabar Gaffney, Tim Hightower, Donte' Stallworth, Kellen Clemens Key losses: Albert Haynesworth, Donovan McNabb, Carlos Rogers, Casey Rabach, Maake Kemoeatu, Phillip Daniels, Jeremy Jarmon, Vonnie Holliday Analysis: I said on Twitter that if I were in charge of rebuilding the Redskins, I would have attacked the defense and put a few bandages on the offense -- making that next year's project and allowing coach Mike Shanahan to see what he could get from below-average offensive personnel. That is exactly what Washington did. Rebuilding this team is a huge project, and it couldn't all be done in one offseason. Defensively, a key for the Redskins with the Cofield signing is Anthony Bryant, the big body needed for early downs at nose tackle who was quite impressive to finish the 2010 season. If that progression continues, Cofield can be used in many effective ways. If not, I don't expect him to be able to handle the pounding on the nose, which really isn't what he is equipped for. Bowen is young and was extremely impressive for the Cowboys in limited snaps. Wilson isn't a well-known corner, but he excelled in Baltimore last season. It also can't be overlooked that Washington signed O.J. Atogwe before the lockout began. Atogwe is a terrific complement to LaRon Landry and should allow the Redskins' strong safety to really roam and make even more plays going forward. This secondary is much-improved. Although I commend what Washington did on defense, I still don't fully understand why it needed to add so many new running backs and wide receivers with hopes that just a few of them step up. Outside of bringing back Moss, the wideouts and running backs are a jumbled mess. That situation needs to be sorted out. Grade: B JoeRedskin 08-04-2011, 03:59 PM I think all my teachers hated me back in the day because I used to get a lot of Bs Please don't limit it to just your teachers. I am sure the administrators, nurses, and support personnel hated you too. The janitor probably peed in your locker regularly. It's probably b/c you wore to many Redskins hats and they were all Redskins' haters. See how I circle round and close the loop? I am too clever and almost never hatted. NYCskinfan82 08-04-2011, 04:03 PM I think we deserved alot of criticism in the past but now I think we are moving in the right direction, and the media just looks at us as the easy target. You need to see the Steve Mariucci comments on the NFL network yesterday good stuff IMO. Lotus 08-04-2011, 04:11 PM To me it's like weather reports. I am a big RUSH fan as well. That is why i asked you on the other thread about your warpath name. I am a drummer and I learned every Neil Pert song back in High School. celts32 08-04-2011, 04:59 PM I think Kevin Sheehan and Thom Loverro are pretty solid Love Sheehan!
