He was a standout player on a very good team at a predominantly black high school there. I remember my Dad taking me to high school games and on a few occasions we saw Bubba play high school ball. That's pretty amazing Yeah, know I am "dating" myself...but keep in mind I was very young and was at those games solely because my brother was playing against Smiths High School team.
