He was probably always a bit overrated, but he always had those SportsCenter runs where he'd bowl over a few people. I totally disagree. He was a stud out of college (Purdue) and we picked a Tackle out of Penn State that year (Andre Johnson ?) Tampa picked a few latter. We need him that year as we had Terry Allen but we did take Steven Davis in the 7th round out of Auburn.

I am not sure about the specifics of the draft in which Alstott was taken but I know we drafted Davis in the 3rd round, not the 7th. We took Johnson in whatever draft with the 18th pick. Alstott was a 2nd rounder.

Alstott almost ended his career after sustaining a neck injury.

I agree with Matty, give the ball to Betts; he is very quick (not necessarily fast), has good vision, and runs with power.

CRT3, if you're from Rockville undoubtedly you remember Sports Call with Ken Beatrice and back in the day he used to constantly talk about this fullback out of Purdue, a Mr. Mike Alstott

I agree about giving the ball to Betts. The Problem is WE DONT GIVE IT TO HIM. He is our short yardage back, and our change of pace back all in one package. I dont think he has scored a TD yet this year, or even being used on the goal-line. Thats why I would get so pissed. If were going to run it up the middle, give it to Betts, when we did that with Portis I was like " either run him outside or get Betts in there". I think Betts will be fine.

4th round not 3rd or 7th.

Problem is Betts can't make the short yardage runs either! We need a bruiser who like taking on DL and someone that can push them a yard or 2. Alstott can still do that. If Bettis can do it Alstott still can.

The problem isn't entirely with the backs. The line has been pretty inconsistent at opening up holes all year.

My mistake we took Davis with the 7th pick in the 4th Round. Johnson was the 30th pick of the 1st round . Alstott was taken 5 picks latter or the 5th pick in the 2nd round. I would have prefered Alstott over Johnson.
