Gmanc711 12-29-2004, 08:01 PM Oh yeah, nothing will make me happier to see that Daniels is given his walking papers. For some reason him and Brunell were exempt from taking a physical before being signed.
Have to disagree with you there. Have you ever seen Brunell play in shorts? Hes the best quarterback of all time (except maybe Jeff George ) without Pads.
How do we get Hasselbeck in? I at least want him to compete for the #2 spot. And I'm more than sure there's a team or two interested in Ramsey. On offense, Gibbs seems to want guys he can trust to take care of the ball. Just like he found out that Betts, and Ramsey to a lower degree, are capable of doing that, he has give younger guys an opportunity. Oh yeah, nothing will make me happier to see that Daniels is given his walking papers. For some reason him and Brunell were exempt from taking a physical before being signed.
You're kinda right about Brunell, from what remember the Skins didn't work him out before signing him. I guess they liked what they saw on film, man was that a mistake.
As for Daniels seems like he fell on some crap luck this year. Blache knows him well so I trust he's a quality player when healthy. Daniels will most likely be back next year.
diehardskin2982 12-30-2004, 03:09 AM my boy who is a cowboys fan said we should trade smoot for a 1st round and draft antel rolle. i think i agree
Daseal 12-30-2004, 09:16 AM I for one want to keep Daniels as long as he's ready next year. The 3 plays he was in for he got a decent push. I think he's just had a bad run with injuries. I'd also like to see Wynn restructure and come back. Sure, he's not an allstar, but he's solid and can help stop the run. We can't have an all-star at every position.

I disagree. First of all, I dont think we'd get a first for Smoot. Second of all, I dont like the idea of trading one good player, just to draft another good player in the same position. Whats the point? Smoot proved that he could to the job, sure he had a bad game last week, but why on earth would we trade him, just to replace him with the thing we trade for.
Now if you said, you think Walt Harris could do the job, and we should trade smoot to get an Olineman or somthing, that makes more sense.
diehardskin2982 12-30-2004, 12:58 PM if smoot wants a uncap friendly contract then what? if we can't sign him we have to find other options... phillip buccanon of the Raiders, or another less costly option like antrel in the draft... regaurdless of what round a drafted player contract is more feasible than a person being resigned
Brute44 12-30-2004, 01:38 PM First off lets start with the main problem this season and thats the Offense. If I were calling the shots I would start with the offensive line. Jansen will be returning next season so thats a plus already. Like people have already stated, the Samuels salary is a big issue. If he doesn't want to restructure than we must look elsewhere or keep that inflated pricetag at a heavy cost. One name that sticks out in my mind is Dockery. If he could step up and play left tackle than that would be awesum. I think he played well last season when Samuels went down. If that happens then we would have two other positions on the O line that would need fixing. I don't think Raymer will be back next season nor Freidman. Lets hope Mark Wilson pans out and can contribute next season at left guard. As for Raymer I would look into a young free agent or possibly a trade for my next concern, wide out. The biggest question here is Coles. Will he have the surgery or will he play another year on that toe? I know about the concern about him not playing football again if the surgery doesn't work out but I feel that he wont have a future if he doesn't get the surgery either. Gardner is a question because he just doesn't have the break away speed that is so desperately needed. He has size though and that could get us a center that we need. I too believe that Taylor should be given an opportunity to show what he can do and MCcants should also. MCcants will probably be traded even though I would keep him. This Antonio Brown guy looks like he has some burners so we'll see. That leaves our first round pick, I think Gibbs will trade down for a later first rounder and a second rounder, possibly with the Chargers who have two first rounders. Yes we could get Mathias Kiwanuka for our first pick but who knows if it would work out and what about Daniels, Williams will have to be the judge on that one. As for a FB, I would look for a cheap free agent or use Mike Sellers. I don't think Cartwright will be here next season. As for TE, I think we will be ok with what we have for next season. Cooley is our threat and Royal seems to block ok aswell as Kozlowski. Now onto QB. I've said it before so I wont get into it again about Ramsey, If Gibbs feels that he is our starter for next season then so be it. Brunell should take a pay cut but if he doesn't then there isn't much we can do about it for another season. The RB position is gonna be alright, Portis will improve with better blocking and Betts is a strong backup. As for the Defense, I believe we are four players away from absolutely dominating the league. Wynn is first he has 3 sacks this season and that just doesn't cut it. I don't know if we use the first rounder for a LE but it might happen. Daniels will need to stay healthy next season for this scenario to succeed. Griffin and Salave'a are good inside players that are going to get even better next season with a couple of ends that bring it. I would keep Noble and Haley maybe at reduces salaries if possible but thats not gonna happen. Warner will be a force next season too. The LB position is good but we need to resign Pierce and let Barrow go. The CB position needs Smoot to stay and we need Ade Jimoh to improve aswell as Harris, no more stupid pass interference calls. If Harris and Jimoh improve then we wont need two of the players out of the four I mentioned above. Also Springs needs to have another great year next season. As for safety, will Bowen play here next season, what about Franz? I think Williams will go out and look for better players in the safety and backup CB positions. The special teams will improve with Brown returning punts and Betts returning kickoffs. Morton will be gone next year and we need more speed on special teams coverage. The next issue is not a player problem but possibly a league issue. That is, will we be given a fair chance next season from the refs??? I have never in my 20+ years of watching NFL football seen so many horrible calls go our way. I can say the same for injuries, half our defense is out and our best Offensive lineman out for the season, before the season even begins. These two things will have to improve next season for this team to have any chance at winning.
Smoot is certainly going to be looking for a fair deal, but I don't think he's going to be hard to re-sign. He seems like he's really committed to being a Redskin.
Pierce on the other hand seems to be looking for the payday and that worries me just a bit. I just hope his production doesn't fall off once he inks that new deal.
diehardskin2982 12-30-2004, 02:31 PM earlier in the post i stated we should take chad owens out of Hawaii who is a awsome special teams player or deandra cobb of mich st. both lead ncaa in special teams returns for td's

Daseal 12-30-2004, 03:10 PM How do you expect to get Chang, Miller, and Williams? Chang we can get in later rounds, but Miller and Williams are both first rounders. Miller is seen as the top TE this year according to Mel Kipper, and Williams is seen as either the #1 or #2 receiver.
