Would we have been better off caving in to C. Jenkins' last minute demands for even more $$?
I would have hate the seen the contract that Vinny would have thrown at him. The man bids against himself on players. Creates markets when there isn't any.

Read up on some of the articles about him. The Cowboys were really counting on keeping him and he was going to be taking on a bigger role this year.
DAL was really counting on keeping him at a reasonable cost. Needless to say he was an UDRFA, he still hadn't started much or dominated to demand that type of money, compared to Cofield. Thier contracts are close if the reports are accurate, $12.5M SB with Cofield earning a higher base salary. Let's see how these guys play.

Honestly I wouldn't have picked either guy. C. Jenkins is injury prone and Bowen is just too un proven at 27. I would've let the rookie play and get the game experience, along with Cofield and had Carrkier and Goldston back them up at DE.

why is everyone saying this? he's 27 and hasn't really done anything. good players hit their stride in year 2 or 3. don't like this one at all.
Bowens was an UDFA and, as such, took longer to develop. But reaching your prime is reaching your prime, whether that occurs in year 3 or year 6.

Very true. There's no set pattern in which players develop. Some burst onto the scene and tear it up from the beginning, others take awhile. I just hope it works out for us.

Admittedly I dont know about bowen but i dont discount his abilities b/c i havent heard of him or he hasnt been a starter since day one or a pro bowler.
Id rather have high motor, lets get dirty type players in the trenchs than a guy whose mindset is expecting to be a probowler with the team adjusting the scheme to fit him and max out his production.
I like the fact we seem to be going after system guys, not collecting individually talented players that make a mix matched bunch.
Good to hear Dboyz thinks its a good deal for us.

Ok I've been out all day and heard this news quickly, not really detailed. I'm just now hearing this from you about the agent asking for more.
I wouldn't budge for more money, however Jenkins is far and beyond better than Bowen. Also not only will we not get a high impact, smart, super bowl, proven Vet, who knows this defense, but he could now be going to the Cowboys...Double dagger right there.
The Cowboys have cap problems. If they felt Bowen was out of their price range, do you really believe they'd be willing to pay Jenkins who seems to be asking for even more?
