Yeah. There is no immediate hurry because....

1- This gives Beck and the Rookie QB more playing/learning time.(snaps)
2- Grossman already knows the offense.
3- Technically all the FA's can't participate on the field or in the weight room until Thursday. So, whats the incentive to come in early? so he can stand on the side line and sweat for 2hrs? They keep saying he'll be back, I don't think other teams are beating down his door, and I'm sure he's just playing it smart.... show up late Wed. and sign the contract so he can be on the field Thursday. No big deal.

The reason it is taking long is because Rex wants starter money. We don't want to give him starter money. He feels that we don't have any other options if we don't pick him up, so he is putting us to the fire.

No offense to Rex, but he doesn't have any other options really. Who else is going to put him as the starter? Nobody. Hell, he's not even guaranteed to start here, he has to compete for the job.

That's ridiculous. We aren't elite, but we aren't the carolina panthers either. I expect we will be a middle of the pack team, but one that plays every game tough. (something we haven't seen a lot of this last decade). We will probably end up 7-9 to 9-7 depending on how some bounces go.

Couldn't agree more -- I have us pegged for 8-8 to 9-7

Looks like the team is close to signing Rex:

My man if hayden was that good a team as bad as the colts secondary wouldn't let him walk

It was more of a salary issue. He's one of the top available CBs now, but was under contract for over $6 million this year and has had some injuries. The Colts decided to go cheaper with less injury risk. They have decent CBs left with Jarraud Powers, Jacob Lacey and Justin Tryon.

I'd be willing to take the risk on him for the Skins. He'd probably play behind Wilson and could allow Barnes to be a backup FS instead of CB. If Landry can't start the season, Horton is likely next on the depth chart. OJ Atogwe could shift to SS and let Barnes play at FS...which I think would be better than a starting duo of Horton and Atogwe.

I'd take Kelvin Hayden over Buchanon any day of the week.

Now that Buchannon is suspended 4 games, Hayden seems more likely to sign.

This. While I am no great Heyer fan, we need tackle depth. News from camp is that Capers is struggling. Gaither is gone and Harris may not want to be a backup. Heyer's departure may not be the blessing it seems.Capers is no great shakes (never was, really), but I really like the Willie Smith UDFA signing, and think he could be worth a 53 man roster spot. I also really liked Xavier Fulton in the 2009 draft, and think he could be in line for a spot here.

There are, I think, two spots available for players who didn't make the team last year at the OL position (not including Chester), but potentially a third since Artis Hicks is hardly a lock to be back. So plenty of opportunity to bring in youth.
