But some what conflicting, they are saying hes a Naval Officer and a Petty Officer at the same time.

So, The General Public thinks they are Officers in the the Military because of their title of General!

Judging by the way Yahoo has worded it some will think he is an officer when in fact (after a Google) he's an enlisted man. (1st Class Yeoman)
If I was that young man I would not want the media to misquote my rank.

Could be he is an E5 or E6 in which case he is a non- comissioned officer; in which case the article is correct, however, not as specific as it should be.
