I thought that contact was forbidden during the lockout.

I'm sure there are plenty of ways for a team to get a message to the players without getting themselves in trouble. Of course, read the last line of that piece: "Of course, teams aren’t supposed to be talking to players during the lockout. For many teams, however, that ship sailed a long, long time ago."

As I understand it, it's not really the veterans it's the rookies and 2nd year players. And there are many ways to get a message out with speaking directly to the players. And other teams are doing this too, as far as I know Skins have not been one of them

Be prepared is not exactly a directive. The Packers are probably not the only team getting a little ahead of themselves......everyone is getting a little antsy.

It's naive to think that teams and players haven't had some sort of contact all this time.

Who cares whether they talk or not? Only the league and only officially. There was always a decent chance the season would be saved...why should teams risk being behind when no one is going to enforce some arbitrary rule about talking to their own players. The whole "don't talk to the players" notion was made with a wink and a nod anyways. The lockout only really mattered as a lockout as long as the threat to the season existed...hence the last minute deal that is going down. The other aspects of the lockout were only machinations for the most part. Talk or not talk...no matter from a labor negotiation standpoint.

Awesome news even if the Packers are technically breaking the rules. Bring on football!
