If I were a GM, I would have hired private detectives to check up on the physical conditioning of potential free agents and to check and see what their daily routines are like starting about 1 July.
What I would not want to do is to sign free agents who show up for a shortened training camp needing a couple of weeks to get into sufficient physical condition to prepare for the season.
I know players have had self-directed workout sessions. I would want to know what those free agents have been doing to come to work in top shape in addition to those kinds of workouts.
It's going to be a while before we begin to see the kind of football we've been accustomed to seeing at the beginning of a season. Lack of conditioning will contribute to an assortment of injuries. Too much work has to be done in a short period of time to expect business as usual.

It would be a stunner if Green Bay didn't lock him up ASAP. But yeah, I'd love to have him for the next decade in B&G.

I kind of like that there will be such a tight window from FA signings to preseason to regular season. Its better than signing someone March 1 and waiting until early August for them to actually play.

I am......really looking forward to the compressed signing period and the ensuing frenzy. It should be like a second draft.....more or less.

I agree but I think it will be hard on the players. They'll potentially be moving, finding new schools for kids, etc., while also starting training camp. Then they'll play their first game with guys that they met only a couple of weeks before. However, such is the nature of the beast this year.

Players? Bah! Bunch of multi-millionaires playing a game. Who cares about their feelings?
Seriously though, I'm certainly sympathetic to their plight. But as a fan of the sport, with no real regard for the people playing, I'm thrilled about the shortened off-season

Knowing their lifestyle and income I can only be somewhat sympathetic.
No one is forcing them to take that job, its what they want to do.
