Here's a bold prediction - Helu will "flat out beat" Torain for the starting RB job on opening day.

Point-Counterpoint: Sorting out the running backs (http://www.csnwashington.com/05/27/11/Point-Counterpoint-Sorting-out-the-runni/landing_redskins_loud3r.html?blockID=529510&feedID=6355)

that wouldnt be that surprising at all. we traded up to get helu, obviously shannahan likes him. he had a lot of success in college and fits our offense to a t apparently.

I don't know. I mean I love Helu as a big play threat. God knows we need someone who can take a handoff all the way to the endzone. However as I said before I honestly believe that Shanny likes Royster better.

My guess is the reason Helu was drafted first was because the front office felt like Helu had more teams gunning for him on draft day and in the end they wanted to get both Helu and Royster in the same draft, hence the need to get Helu first.

Of course that is all just a guess on my part but after hearing Shanny talking about Royster it just feels like he was the favorite among the two backs that were picked. Obviously a guy with 4.3 speed and 6.0 yards per carry is going to have more value on draft day then an engine that could type back that does everything good and nothing great.

DB: DeAngelo Hall, Nnamdi Asomugha

Id like too see it myself but its actually a tandem weve seen and wasnt successul SUPRISINGLY... Why didnt these two click last time in Oakland?

They asked Hall to play more bump and run which is similar to asking Haynesworth to play a two gap style.

I think you're right here. Royster wasn't being looked at and talked to by us a lot, where as Helu wasn't really even mentioned. Plus I feel like Helu was the great college back that more one dimensional, and Roysters the multi-dimensional still has more to show (Arian Foster for example) type of back.

Id like too see it myself but its actually a tandem weve seen and wasnt successul SUPRISINGLY... Why didnt these two click last time in Oakland? This was a really good question, so I did some research. Hall's terrible play in Oakland may have been overstated.

I mean, he was terrible there across from Asomugha, meaning he had a pair of disaster games against Jay Cutler and Matt Ryan that year, and then Al Davis held him accountable and released him. I think the perception of Hall's bad games is often not as critical as it deserves to be because Hall is rarely held accountable for poor performance. Davis wrote a check and released him.

But 2008 ended up being a pretty standard DeAngelo Hall season by the end. He can complain about the coverages they made him play in Oakland all he wants, but it's not like 2008 (9 YPA against in OAK, but 5 YPA against in WAS) was somehow more erratic than his 2010 season (5 INTs in two halves in Weeks 7 & 8, 0 INTs rest of season). Hall just lets recent outcomes dictate his abilities on the next play. He should be better than he is, in theory, but the only man who ever held him accountable, Al Davis, is never going to take a chance on him again.

Long story short, Asomugha and Hall would work at least as well here as Rogers and Hall. Hall isn't going to play worse just because he's getting thrown at more. It's just that his mistakes will compound and perhaps be more evident. But they were always there.
