Portis Out To Prove Redskins WrongSmootSmack 05-25-2011, 10:24 AM Portis also wants to play the Redskins twice a year (http://www.csnwashington.com/05/25/11/Portis-also-wants-to-play-the-Redskins-t/landing_redskins_loud3r.html?blockID=528608&feedID=9656) NC_Skins 05-25-2011, 10:36 AM haha....nobody wants a washed up RB who's wheels have fallen off. See Edgerrim James, Shaun Alexander and mostly any other RB at or above 30 years old. The only exceptions I've seen have been LT and T. Jones, and truth is Jones is probably done for considering his production last year. This will be LT's last year as well I imagine because he broke down the second half of last season. Portis would still be good if Joe Gibbs didn't run him into the ground. That's why that 2 back system does wonders for a team. MTK 05-25-2011, 10:37 AM Bring it on CP. Rogers sure is burning some bridges eh? He's never been the sharpest tack. skinsfaninok 05-25-2011, 10:40 AM Both those guys are idiots and washed up Alvin Walton 05-25-2011, 11:06 AM Portis who? I wanna see the Helu/Royster attack! saden1 05-25-2011, 11:13 AM If I were the Eagles I would sign him. He is going to come cheap and could play at a high level in spats. MTK 05-25-2011, 11:19 AM Yeah he's capable of playing well for stretches, but unless he goes out and runs for 1500 and scores 10 TDs, he's not going to be proving the Skins wrong for letting him go and moving on with younger legs. saden1 05-25-2011, 11:28 AM Yeah he's capable of playing well for stretches, but unless he goes out and runs for 1500 and scores 10 TDs, he's not going to be proving the Skins wrong for letting him go and moving on with younger legs. 1500 yard bar? Clinton Portis is 29...if his injuries are healed and he gets time on the field I am sure he is capable of giving you 1100 yards and 8TDs. To prove the Redskins wrong he only needs to get more yards and TDs than the Redskins starter. Let's hope Torain stays up. Schneed10 05-25-2011, 11:39 AM 1500 yard bar? Well in Andy Reid's system he'd never get enough touches to even come close to 1100 yards, given that McCoy would be the unquestioned starter and Reid simply doesn't run that much in the first place. But speaking in broader terms, I don't think Portis has done enough over the course of his career to keep himself in prime physical condition. The only backs who make it past 30 are the ones who work out like warriors and eat right. E Smith, T Jones, these guys had longevity because of their habits. Portis is headed downhill in a hurry because he's never had the work ethic. If Portis gets you 1100 and 8 TDs, you will have had a losing season, I promise. Because that would mean he's your best option, and it would mean you had to give him 300 carries just to get those 1100 yards. He doesn't have the speed needed to average more than 4 yards per carry anymore. tc2deuce 05-25-2011, 11:45 AM now he gets motivated! |
