Gmanc711 12-20-2004, 08:20 PM I dont know, but the past couple days I have missed the hell out of playing high school football. I'm watching the highlight tape as I'm wirting this, and there goes "my tackle"! Anyone got any good football storeis from back in the day?
wolfeskins 12-20-2004, 09:04 PM i have one. it was before highschool, my brother, who is 4 yeas older than i am, would always take part in the weekly football game between our neiborhood and a neiborhood down the street. i was 13 years old and my bro would never let me play because all the players were much older and much, much bigger. well one day he finally gave in and i played. durring that game i made two touchdowns as a receiver and intercepted a pass on defense but the most impressive thing i did that day was make an open fieldtackle on the other teams running back. what made that tackle so great was the rb was about 18 or 19 years old , weighed prolly 190 lbs and i was 13 and about 120. he didn't try to "juke" or anything, he wanted to run me over, i took him head on , lowered my shoulders , wrapped my arms around his hips and brought his big ass to the ground. it hurt like hell, my body was in pain for days but from that day forward i was invited to play, soon after, there were no more invitations, i was just expected to play, i was " part of the team ".
BDBohnzie 12-23-2004, 01:38 PM my only football experience (mom wouldn't allow me to play tackle football, too many fears of broken bones, etc) is in the neighborhood...
however, i did play hood ball with Chris Kelley, the starting safety for the Terps this past fall. of course, he being a few years younger than me, i was able to pick him apart when i was younger. but even then, he showed flashes of brilliance that would lead him to his 3 time All-Met status, multiple state titles at Seneca Valley, and his career at Maryland.
there was one other time, i played hood ball with several starting players at Seneca Valley, most of them juniors and seniors, when i was in 7th grade. I know the body pain you went thru wolfeskins. i was always QB and pass rusher in hood ball, never much of a tackler, and got man handled by the all-met tailback. ran me completely over.
Gmanc711 12-23-2004, 02:00 PM Anyone else play with or against any famous players.
I played a game against Adam Podlesh who is the punter for Maryland. My friend played against Allan Zamitas, the Saftey from Penn State, but thats it.

Smootsmack, don't you have a story about you and Shawn Springs from HS? :D
RedskinRat 12-23-2004, 02:33 PM I REALLY envy you guys, growing up in the UK I only had football (the other kind), Rugby, Cricket and Rounders (don't ask...).
I didn't get to play Football until I was in my late 20's and I was awful. Born in the wrong country, just my luck.

Yes I do.
The play is to send everyone deep, while I go underneath for a dump off pass (might have even been a shovel pass I don't remember now). We had run similar plays a couple of times before and I had gotten some good yards off of it.
Third time wasn't a charm. I caught the ball and as soon as I turned around I got leveled, absolutely destroyed. I have no idea where Springs came from but it was like a truck coming at me. I was dizzy for days.
Our QB that day if I remember right was Jim Kemp, son of Jack Kemp
