KI Skins Fan 05-04-2011, 05:44 PM Report on the Salute to Congress Dinner, February 1985:
"Riggins provided one of the evening's most memorable moments when he called across the table to the Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor: 'Come on, Sandy baby, loosen up. You're too tight.' Riggins, who complained of back pains during the dinner and at one point asked for an adjustment to his chair, got up and walked around, kneeled next to Justice O'Connor's husband, John, then dropped to one elbow and finally stretched out altogether, poking his cowboy boots under a guest's chair.
One guest said Riggins had slept for about an hour, first on his back and later on his stomach, snoring occasionally. After the speeches were concluded, Riggins was roused and escorted from the room."
If there had been a game the next day, he would have probably run for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Willie who?
Who cares, go back to Pittsburgh, doubt they'd even want you.
NYCskinfan82 05-04-2011, 05:54 PM WP is a A hole, he calls us a party team and he still couldn't make the team LOL.

Willie is staying in VA with Marty and the Destroyers...
Willie Parker, Pat White Head Destroyers Reserve Unsigned List | UFL (http://www.ufl-football.com/news/willie-parker-pat-white-head-destroyers-reserve-unsigned-list-0)
NC_Skins 05-04-2011, 09:12 PM Not sure why you guys are hating on Willie Parker, but the guy is telling the truth. So what he pretty much finished as a player in the league, does that mean what he said isn't valid? He's just one of many that have said the same thing over and over.
My guess is, if some of these "club scene" gurus didn't party all night, they wouldn't have to sleep in meetings.

The good news is, they are being removed slowly but surely. (D. Thomas is a prime example)
CRedskinsRule 05-04-2011, 09:21 PM Yet another reason why I like our draft and the fact we brought in a lot of team leaders. Hopefully Fletch and PD will pass the torch to a new generation of Skins that wants to win.
SmootSmack 05-04-2011, 09:51 PM He'd probably know better than any of us what it was like. He doesn't say, of course, if he partied with the rest of them.
I don't interact directly with the current team anymore but I do know that there is a certain reputation around the league about the team..well I should say, was a certain reputation. I do believe it is changing. Most of the "abusers" are gone.
But the Redskins have had a seesaw culture (if that even makes sense). I was there during the Turner, Marty, and Spurrier years.
And I've talked about this before.
Norv-bless his heart he really tried, but he just couldn't command any respect. Mainly because he didn't try to earn it, so much as he tried to force it upon everyone without really proving he deserved it
Marty-took a while to earn people's respect, but he got it
Spurrier-he just wanted to coach football and there was no discipline at all during this time. 2002 was my favorite year covering the Redskins. Non-stop partying. I've mentioned here how I used to get phone calls from players during meetings...during their meetings, not mine. Heck, I used to plan parties for these guys "Come to Rod Gardner's Birthday Party...Live at the Ibex!"
Gibbs-Well, by now I was gone but by all accounts instant respect and accountability
Zorn-As I've heard it, very similar to Norv. But then what made it worse was Cerrato above him
Anyhow, I don't doubt what Parker was saying may have been true last spring. But I don't know if it is so much now
tryfuhl 05-05-2011, 03:19 AM Yeah I saw this. Seems a little like sour grapes to me. Shanahan is attempting to change a culture, and I think in large part the guys are buying in. Sure Brandon Banks got stabbed in a nightclub at 2am, but apart from that, it's not like we have players getting in trouble by any means.
I'd like to know who he's referring to, and I'd also like to hear some of our current players react to these comments.
Maybe it's true
but with so many reports of the party scene.. LL, BB, CP, FD, etc.. I wouldnt be surprised
ESPECIALLY compared to Pittsburgh...
tryfuhl 05-05-2011, 03:21 AM Pretty sure Fletch would have something to say about this. I mean, didn't we just have 30 or so players assemble for their own mini-camp on their own dime just for the sake of improving as a team? Doesn't sound like a group of guys who don't care about football.
20some I think
I don't know the attendance on the recent Steelers workouts
Saints had 37
tryfuhl 05-05-2011, 03:22 AM Unless I am missing out but DC nightlife on the weekends is dead, the city is a ghost town especially in the summer time!you're in the wrong parts of the city lol
