Until we actually start winning, the Redskins will always get trashed. I mean look at last season with a "New Regime" and it was still a ****ing Circus.

This is only a headline because the Redskins cut him before he ever got a regular season carry. Comparing Pitsburgh to DC in like comparing Apples and Oranges. Randle El was here much longer than Willie thought about, went back to Pittsburgh and never heard a word from him anywhere similar to what Parker is talking about. Such a non-issue. Get a job Parker and do something then talk smack.

Well sure, but Shanahan had no tolerance for his BS, and he wasn't part of the new regime. MS and BA had nothing to do with bringing that load of crap to town.

Yeah but they did start the whole DM fiasco

Well, the Skins do party - a lot. But I don't think they're any different than other NFL teams in other cities.

What does that have to do with caring about football or partying?

IN THE PAST, the Redskins have had a reputation around the league as a "warm and fuzzy" team. Their training camp was a "country club" when compared to some of the "boot camps" that other teams staged. The coaches did not crack the whip often and when they did it was not very painful.

SOME of the Skins players from previous rosters were well known as "social animals" in the wee hours of many weeknights. If a reporter wanted to write an article on which DC athletes were out and about at night, it would NOT be difficult for him to find a half-dozen night spots in the DC area where he could observe who was out and with whom on which evening. That is the fodder of gossip columns and luckily for some past Redskins - - and Wizzards - - gossip columns in DC are only considered important if they involve politicians. It is a fact that every team has "social animals" on it; the Skins had their share...

Only when Marty Schottenheimer was here really cracking the whip did the Skins team come close to resembling the focus of the "Lombardi Packers" - - who by the way had more than a couple of "social animals" on its roster! Other recent head coaches - - Pettibone to the present - - were far closer to the "players' coach end of the spectrum" than to the "drill sergeant end of the spectrum."

As with all charges and insinuations of this kind, there is always a hint of "truthiness" in there along with plenty of exaggeration, generalization, retaliation and aggravation.

The word around the league is that Shanahan is trying to pull the reins on the team and increase the percentage of "football first" players. That will take time and that will cause some controversies - - as we have seen already. The ONLY way that culture change can be completed is for the coaches, the fans and the owner to have the patience and the focus to see it through.

If this is true, and personally I have little reason to believe it isn't, then I would expect Paul and Hurt to be at a disadvantage because out of the 12 players we drafted they were the only two with character concerns.
