KW will make the team. With CP gone he's the best blocker we have on 3rd downs. Plus he's versatile coming out of the backfield as a runner or receiver.

I hope not. We need a home run hitter in there on 3rd down. Williams has no explosivness and can't run away from me. Royster seems like the perfect fit. A Helu, Royster 1-2 punch could be real nice.

You need a homerun hitter on 1st and 2nd downs, that's where Helu fits in. On 3rd down you need a guy that can pick up a blitz, and that's Williams.

Unless one of the other guys steps up big in camp and shows he can pick up blitzes (which seems doubtful given the lack of an offseason), KW's spot seems pretty safe.

I don't even see Williams making the team.

Seriously? Wow. He is not a top 10 RB my any stretch of the imagination, but to say that about him... I think he proved he has room to improve but I thought he did well last year.

I agree. Roysters got the smarts, catching, and blocking. Torains got the power. Helus got the speed. Keiland williams was catching and some blocking with some speed.

All up to the philosophy of the team. Tons of teams have blockers in as their 3rd down back, tons of teams have speedsters. I personally agree with matty and like a blocking back with the addition of they have to be able to run routes, catch, and run after the catch well.

I wouldn't say kw's spot is necessarily safe though. When two RB's are drafted (and the possibility of and undrafted back coming in...this is shanahan we're talking about), nobody but the top dog is safe. IMO the top dog is Torain. I think it is probable that we carry 4 RBs this year, but I wouldn't call KW "safe."

You still need a guy on the roster that can block on 3rd downs, Torain can't, and the rookies are going to be way too behind to pick up the nuances of pro blitz pickups in camp. I would actually say KW's job is safer than Torain's.
