Hey 30, do you mean Jared Gaither in your sig? Or is there someone named Jeremy Gaither that I don't know about.
Clabo would be something else, not sure he leaves though
Starting to hear Harris may not be so definite here, but as I've mentioned in the past, Jammal Brown is likely to return so maybe no room for both?LoL, yeah it should be Jared.
Clabo? If we're supposedly looking at Santonio Holmes and Cullen Jenkins then I figure why not make a run at one of the better players at position where we're in need of an upgrade.
I'm glad to hear that about Harris I think he's over rated.
Yeah, he has scheme familiarity and yes he's young but he's also injury prone.
I can't imagine why we would want Jammal Brown over some of the other FA OTs.
He's older; he's essentially playing out of position and may want a good amount of money.
I think we should be able to do better then a RT who was barely more effective then Stephon Heyer.
Heck, I would be okay with a journeyman brought in to compete with Clint Oldenburg as I would be with Jammal Brown and Ryan Harris.
Journeymen: Basically looking for the FA versions of our own Monty/Licht guys that got a chance to play and played well enough to garner a look as a starter:
Pat McQuistan
Ryan Cook
Longshots to bring in to compete for the job:
Rashad Butler (scheme familiarity w/ Kyle in Houston but only 4 career starts)

Hate to make you post again but do me a favor and put that in the new 2011 Redskins FA thread, fits better there. I'll have some reaction

Beck went to the Ravens mid-training camp. He was behind Troy Smith who was gonna be the starter and behind Joe Flacco the QB of the future both of which were selected by the Ravens front office.
Then they had the chance to get a proven starter like Mark Bulger.
Beck was the odd man out caught in a numbers game.
It doesn't mean he can or can't play just that he wasn't in a situation where he was gonna get a real shot.
There are a finite number practice reps/snaps in an NFL practice and the lions share goes to the starter then the QB of the future or back-up then if there are scraps then the 3rd string QB can get a look running his teams offense.
Otherwise they're running the scout team w/ a simplified version of the teams next opponent.
If you can't compete and make one of three spots, that tells me the guy sucks. Bring in the oft injured Bulger over a young kid tells me all I need to know. A FA QB is in the works.

Jim Plunkett was considered a bust and could not find his stride in the NFL until the Raiders picked him up. After that, two Super Bowl wins, one against our beloved Redskins.

No kidding but if he had any ability don't you think they would've held on to him as a back up?
Get up to speed on what John Beck has been saying from day one. He wanted to find the right situation where he could become a starting QB again. He was not going to have that opportunity in Baltimore and probably made his feelings known to management.....thus he talked his way out.

Troy Smith is a preseason beast too. Not a long-term answer as a starter, but a good sparkplug of a backup.

Junkies put Beck on blast today
EBJunkies Eric Bickel
Bill Parcells and Ozzie Newsome 2 of the most accomplished personnel guys in the league both punted John Beck. Your honor, I rest my case.

Former teammate of Beck: "No touch on short passes. Not that great. No names please....He is no good. Great guy though."

Alright... we just CRUSHED John Beck for 2 hours for no reason. LOL.... literally for sport. Now I feel bad. ugh.

It doesn't matter what his situation is. He doesn't have ability to be a legit NFL starter or maybe even a back up. Hope I'm wrong but from everything that I've seen from this guy says he doesn't look the part.
Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks right now except for Shanahan, and he thinks Beck looks the part. We'll know soon enough who's right or wrong.

There are probably few people who actually believe John Beck will prove to be the long term answer at the QB for the Redskins, neither have I heard anyone suggest it. However, all signs point to there being a competition for the position and he will be included in that competition (at least for this season.) I'll be content to let the coaches decide whether he's legit or not.
