lets just wait and see........... AJ Hawk, was suppose to be a stud, and he is a sub par player.......... they got it right with Clay Matthews, but he is rare..... there arent many clays out there.

Hawk a sub par player? Really? Do you watch football? Maybe he doesn't get sacks, but he's pretty darn good in coverage and makes tackles from sideline to sideline. I'd take him in the middle in the Skins D any day.

AJ Hawk was affected by the transition to the 3-4 but still was able to adjust a bit. Put in as a 4-3 LB and I think he'd be much better. Ppl tend to dismiss how much scheme can affect a player effectiveness.

Hawk is an ILB. Kerrigan an OLB. Cannot compare the two.

I gave it a B. Kerrigan is a starter for sure, just wish we were in a 4-3 to use him in. I still rather have Orakpo and now Kerrigan play the position the were drafted in.

Worse case scenario Kerrigan did play a good amount of LDE in college so if we switch to the 4-3 again we'll be able to put him opposite Orakpo.

Still I remember last year people were saying we were a 4-3 team trying to run a 3-4. Now I look at the moves they made, Drafting Perry Riley last year, trading for Cariker last year, Signing OJ, drafting Kerrigan to play OLB, getting Jenkins to play the nose. I'd say we are now officially dealing with 3-4 personnel. Oh yeah, and if Kemo is recovered from his achilies then thats another 3-4 guy.

Jenkins can be trained into a NT (a big difference between trying to make a pass rushing 4-3 DT into a NT) and he already is used to doing a lot of the things that true NTs are expected to do. Now we have two young NTs (Bryant, who had a good end of the season), I'd like us to get a veteran healthy NT if there is one available out there.

I do think we are in better shape for the 3-4 now, hopefully now we can focus on the offense in free agency (and hopefully we can find some gems in the next couple of rounds.

Better shape for sure. We still need to upgrade Golston, though.

Man I love to hear that ... can never have too many great character guys in the locker room especially if he translates and becomes a stud at the next level. He would be an awesome influence in the locker room for younger guys coming in.

I gave it a "B". At first, I thought that among all of the defensive needs, another pass rusher was a bit further down the list.

But then you have to consider: Orakpo is getting held practically the entire game, and if he's not getting pressure to the QB, then we're not getting pressure on the QB. The coaches obviously saw that. So sometimes even one great pass rusher isn't quite enough. During the glory years it was Mann and Manley -- hopefully Rak and Ryan can come somewhere close to that.
