Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigantryfuhl 04-29-2011, 12:03 PM the rook is in the building, photo courtesy Matt Terl I believe http://a.yfrog.com/img618/980/nifiy.jpg KI Skins Fan 04-29-2011, 12:10 PM Respectfully sir, I think you are an idiot. Gabbert is not going to be an all world QB for the Jaguars. They did us a favor. There is a reason Shanny traded back instead of choosing him. You can't get much more respectful than that! Although, it might have cushioned the blow a bit more if you had said: "Respectfully, sir, I think you are an idiot savant - except for the savant part". Although, it might have cushioned the blow a bit more if you had said: "Respectfully, sir, I think you are an idiot savant -except for the savant part". LOL. Seriously though, you can't give this pick an F just because you are pissed about Gabbert. Kerrigan is going to be great for our defense. Shanny obviously didn't like him as a fit for our offense and I haven't seen one thing that says Gabbert is going to be a superstar. Monksdown 04-29-2011, 12:16 PM Like everyone else i loved the trade back. I love getting a guy thats gonna work really hard. And i really love the fact that he was susposedly high on the NE list (i just really like their style). The only thing that upsets me is that if we didnt switch to the 3-4, we wouldnt of had this need and we could of spent a first round pick on the offense. But i only say that because it takes me a really long time to get over stuff.... Im sure ill be happy with a Pittsburg 3-4 type d in a few years. HA! If the coaches keep their jobs long enough to see the full 3-4 conversion. tryfuhl 04-29-2011, 12:16 PM You can't get much more respectful than that! Every player on the board has question marks. I like the trade back. Now we can pick up hopefully at least two more potential starters. Possibilities? Two of the following: Paea Bowers DE Dalton QB Kaepernick QB Austin DL Hankerson WR Ryan Williams RB Sheard DE I don't think we traded down to pick up an additional pick to take chance on the knee of a 4-3 DE in Bowers. You can scratch him off the list. We will take a quarterback in the 2nd round. Write that down. Longtimefan 04-29-2011, 12:28 PM Its still odd to see someone saying they have faith in our front office and have them being serious! It's been a long time but I agree! We're all probably willing to concede it's early in the process and there are those still fuming from the blunder of the Donovan McNabb trade still fresh in their minds. However, giving credit it's due, the kind of strategic move deployed by the FO in last night's 1st round can be viewed as nothing less than a team builder. Keeping our draft picks and drafting wisely is the simple doctrine that inspired me to introduce a thought provoking thread of the same name. We will know with a confident degree of certainty whether we're on course when in repeated succession we like the New England's of the world have our own plethora of draft picks come draft day. SBXVII 04-29-2011, 01:07 PM I gave a B but could have easily given an A. I like the fact the team moved back in the draft to aquire more picks. I like the fact that he said he was invited April 13th and 14th and left hoping the Skins would pick him. Obviously if the player is happy we'll get better production. I like the pick, we know we needed a pass rusher to compliment Orakpo and we needed more picks. I'm slightly disappointed we don't have Dalton and probably won't get him considering the Patriots are interested in him also and have the first pick today, but I also like Mallet at 6-6 and I like Kaepernick at 6-4. I like what were doing vs. Simply taking BPA because we would have endedup with either the #1 DE which is still on the board and might not have been a good fit or the #1 LB still on the board. Now we need a NT and a QB and OL. Bakerman 04-29-2011, 01:12 PM Give it an A. I fully expected them to trade the draft pick away for some overpaid POS like they have done countless times in the past 10 plus years. Seems like the "Mom and Dad " are home message may take shape. Pass rush is good to have. O-Line needs help next. QB can wait. Sexy Rexy will light 'em up this year! Can't wait to see who they get next. GTripp0012 04-29-2011, 01:20 PM Kerrigan's best skill was the Redskins largest deficiency, getting after the passer. It was a bigger deficiency than our passing offense. |
