Ok to start new threads

Just a reminder that it's ok to start new threads, no need to bump year old threads especially when there have been new developments to a story or if the story is entirely different than the existing thread you're thinking of bumping.

Bumping old threads gets confusing and we'd like to cut down on the mega threads we've had lately.

Also, I should specify the importance of quality thread titles too. You know, punctuation, spelling, capitalizing, etc. These threads get sent out via Facebook and Twitter, so let's remember that when you are creating content for the site, let's dot our I's and cross our T's.

Thanks

It's so funny that posters always go to the extremes. I recall a few years back we had issues of duplicate threads or people creating new threads for updates a few days later.

Now people bump threads that are 3-4 years old lol. There is a middle ground folks!

Thanks goodness, I don't post all that often anymore anyway, but I was starting to avoid this place just because I didn't feel like navigating to page 254 of a thread to find out what the latest news on a story is.

Thank you for this PSA, Matty. Hopefully, it'll make it easier to keep up with things around here.

Know you know and knowing is half the battle.

I can't wait for the day when folks start creating way to many threads and someone bumps this thread; hopefully it will be like 2014.

While neither extreme is fun, I'd much rather have duplicate short threads than only like 5 active mega threads.

Thanks for this, it makes discussion so much easier to follow.

Agreed. Headlines are more effective than unabridged documentary threads.

You spelled okay wrong in your subject heading. 4 month ban.

Haha, never been a problem for me. Some sports forums are actually quite nice. Other forums often punish members for necroposting and the thread gets auto-locked.
