Jury Duty: How many times can you be called?tryfuhl 04-13-2011, 04:40 AM http://zerotosixty.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/medium_dr_evil_1.jpg tryfuhl 04-13-2011, 04:41 AM I never respond to jury duty requests it has nothing to do with patriotism/national pride, just basic f you over we can make you do this stuff, in my 3 or so requests I've never had an issue mredskins 04-13-2011, 08:08 AM About the only perk of not registering to vote is not being called for jury duty. I think that is a misnomer, I beleive you can be called regardless. mredskins 04-13-2011, 08:13 AM The worst jury duty I had was two years ago, I was selected as an alternate. I stay and listen to this case for week and then when it when it was time to decide the case I was released. What a waste! MTK 04-13-2011, 08:14 AM 7 times in 3 months? Sounds pretty excessive. I've been called once and that was when I was away at college and couldn't go. TheMalcolmConnection 04-13-2011, 08:30 AM So those of you who have said F off to them, do you just not go? We've read that the police will come and GET you or that you can get fined for not going. We'd LOVE to just call them up and be like, "This is getting ridiculous, how about you defer us for a year then you can pull this shit again." Good advice saden. I know that's probably half-joking, but my wife has a lawyer friend and he said that a lot of people say things like that to get out of it and he says it works EVERY time. TheMalcolmConnection 04-13-2011, 08:32 AM 7 times in 3 months? Sounds pretty excessive. I've been called once and that was when I was away at college and couldn't go. It's almost like they're trying to "stick it to us" because of the two times I had to call to be excused because of vacation. mredskins 04-13-2011, 08:42 AM Try the following and see if it gets you off: That may work if you were individually interviewed but I have been in a room full of people and they ask general questions and you stand or sit depending on your answer. One of the easiest ways to get out of it is stand when they ask if you have any family or friends that are LEO's, I have never seen anyone picked that has stood up for that question. MTK 04-13-2011, 08:46 AM It's almost like they're trying to "stick it to us" because of the two times I had to call to be excused because of vacation. Give them a call and see what's up, could be some sort of mistake on their part. I've never heard of someone getting called that frequently in such a short period of time. Lotus 04-13-2011, 09:41 AM I've been called several times only to find no trial. The one time that I actually moved into a jury pool, a lawyer asked the roomful of potential jurors, "Raise your hand if you think that the criminal justice system needs to be reformed." I raised my hand out of honesty. I was the only one to raise a hand. Ten minutes later I was dismissed. |
