Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?

11 sacks as a true sophomore isn't that impressive? And any injury can resurface, apparently he gets regular MRI's to see if anything is going on. He played two full years of football (and spent a third being ineligible) with no relapse of any type, I'm not saying he's not without risk, what I'm trying to say is that if I had to choose between two injuries I would take the Quinn over a guy who had a potentially serious knee injury.


You cannot be serious, can you?? If he were smart, he would have had radiation treatment after finding out he had a brain tumor. There was a punter who played for Syracuse University that also had a brain tumor and elected to receive treatment for it. The punter is now eligible to play football again due to the fact that his brain tumor is a thing of the past.

The guy is a punter not an impact OLB/DE. A brain tumor is a primary tumor and can or cannot be cancerous. Why is this guy taking a risk instead of having treatment?

A primary brain tumor can grow rapidly and compete for space in the brain cavity. Something has to give! If Quinn is on the field playing and all of a sudden begins to have a nose bleed or faints, what would your take be on it then?

He is not being honest with us. Primary brain tumors can be deadly if not addressed in there early stages. If a team drafts this guy knowing that he has this condition to me is ----ing stupid, not to mention the player.

I'm surprise that all of you who say we should draft him, have not consider the severity of Quinn's medical situation. This is really sadistic and inconsiderate on your part.

All we need would be to draft this guy and something terrible happens to him and we would be ------. Quinn is hiding something about his health. If he is kidding himself that this tumor will go away or he is beyond succumbing to its serious repercussions, he is making one hell of a gamble.

Robert Quinn Has Raised Some Red Flags With Analysts, But Teams In The Top 10 Of The 2011 NFL Draft Don’t Sound Worried

North Carolina DE Robert Quinn, who was suspended for all of 2010 for receiving improper benefits, remains one of the top pass-rush prospects in the draft. While he has lots of questions to answer, character-related and otherwise, it appears Quinn is headed for a top 10 selection.

Going into Quinn's visit with the Browns last Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer noted that "with…Da’Quan Bowers’ knee injury, Quinn might now be considered the best pass-rushing end in the draft. He’s one of the players the Browns are considering with their No. 6 pick."



And if Cleveland passes at No. 6, the Washington Examiner points out that “The closer the draft gets, the more [Quinn’s] name pops up for the Redskins with their first pick” at No. 10 overall.

Quinn’s suspension isn’t the only issue raising concerns for the teams who might pick him. Analyst Russ Lande told the Examiner that “his motor is not there all the time," and he only has two seasons of college football under his belt.

Quinn would also have to deal with moving to linebacker if he went to a 3-4 team like the Redskins or the Houston Texans at No. 11. His two-year college career was played entirely at DE.

Even with all those issues on the table, plenty of teams could look past them to land a playmaker like Quinn, who recorded 11 sacks and 19 tackles for loss as a sophomore in 2009.

NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock predicted Quinn would, "Blow this combine up.

"He's as good a natural pass rusher as I've ever seen."

As far as his character issues:

"I made a selfish mistake that me and my team, my family and coaches paid a price for," Quinn said. "God gave me a talent, and in a second, he can take it away from me.

"I truly apologized for it."

Quinns issue is a very complex one and yet you're attempting to make it a simple black and white issue. I'm sure you don't have all the facts at hand so I would wait before making claims that "he isn't being honest".

This Kid, as you suggest, is not too smart. If I had a brain tumor I would be looking to cure my situation asap.

Every six months he has a MRI to determine if the tumor has grown. What does that tell you? Does one have to be a doctor to come to the conclusion that Quinn is playing Russian Roulette with his life?
