What struck me about this letter is that Allen has to deal w/players. I thought this letter would've been better to ommit the statements about the owners offer.

I think he's kind of in a tight spot. Yeah he has to deal with players but he was hired by DS to negotiate their contracts. I guess what I'm saying is BA's loyalty is towards the team and getting the player for the cheapest rate. Which is why the comment about the offer being fair.

Sure, obviously Allen works for DS, but he's the middle man on many things & he has to keep a good relationship w/most everybody in the organization. That said, my fear is that Snyder directed Allen to write this letter. I think it would've been better to say less in this case, I just don't think the avg. ticket holder is going to be swayed by this letter, and in the long run Allen needs to have a good, professional relationship w/the players.

Not understanding why GMs are involved in this. They aren't part of the ownership nor the players. Probably should stay out of this one Bruce.

I can only imagine the reaction if Snyder wrote this letter.

Allen has been involved with the CBA discussions, so I think his voice is appropriate in regard to this.

Certainly not suggesting DS write the letter! I just thought the letter would've been better if it was less political on the subject, seems there's less to gain & more to lose w/the way they did it.

didn't realize anyone would care about this letter, i posted it in the cba thread a few days ago. i feel like every team sent out the same basic statement.

i was also kind of surprised when it was from bruce allen and not david donovan to be honest. that said bruce allen has been very hands on with the fans since his has been here, and i think he has been doin a great job at it.

Agreed about Allen being hands on w/fans. I may be making too much of it, I just was surprised Allen was not being more neutral, but he may have no choice in that.

Basically "Please continue to buy tickets if you haven't already and don't get mad if you have to pay for games that are never played."

Thats not totally fair...since Bruce got here there has been an attempt to become more fan friendly. Things like the CBA and when ticket payments are due are not his call to make. Who cares what the letter says, its nice to know we finally have a GM that knows we exist.
