From most the information coming from draft pundits following the combine, this draft is absolutely loaded with defensive talent. Let me begin by saying that an edge rusher, opposite Orakpo in our new 3-4 is arguably our paramount need in this draft (We all know we have several positions of need). For the sake of discussion, lets consider the slight possibilty that the top edge rushers (Quinn, Bowers, Miller) and defensive tackles (Dareus, Fairley) may be snatched by up by teams ahead of us. If by chance this scenario happens, this may be our opportunity to grab our #1 reciever for years to come...A.J. Green or Julio Jones.

Julio Jones is an absolute physical freak and extremely tough competitor (based on his results at the combine and knowing that he put those numbers up on a broken foot). He is physically imposing and is a devastating blocker in the game. Very solid in YAC and tough to tackle in the open field.

A.J. Green on the other hand, is such a naturally gifted pass catcher. He catches everything thrown his way, runs crisp routes and gets consistent separation from defenders. His ability to go "up" for the ball is unmatched, not to mention, his knack for the spectacular catch.

If we went WR at #10, Who do you think we should take, Jones or Green, and why?

Green just seems safer. He looks like a gazelle when he plays, so graceful. Football just seems so natural to him. Jones might be the better athlete with more upside, but Green seems like the better natural football player.
I'm sure some player exists out there that had a pre-draft injury that signified how tough they were by playing through it in college or the combine, but I've just never seen it. Mike Crabtree, Justin Harell, Jonathan Stewart are the three players that come to mind. Harrell has been injured his whole career, and Crabtree and Stewart have been good but not great. Playing through an injury in college might or might not be crippling, but there doesn't seem to be any upside.

I went to YouTube to settle the question you posed in order to get a feel for the two WRs.

First, both of them are hard-nosed WRs and have no apparent fear of catching the ball in traffic. This is important in the NFL. Grade them even.

Secondly, they both have an appreciated love for the game and their respective abilities to make fantastic plays. Slight edge to A.J. Green.

Thirdly, if I had to pick one of them to hopefully compliment Kelly (fingers crossed), I would pick A.J. Green. He will bring out the best from the other receivers on our team. Both are physical, so that negates Julio Jones' strong point.

All of that being said, I like A.J. Green.

If they are both there you gotta take Green.

Julio Jones will be an elite WR in the NFL. Id take Jones without hesitation.

Depends on who's the QB throwing to them.

I like both of these players a lot. If one is there, take him. If both are there, go Green.

I'm just not so sold on first round WRs I'd rather go LB DE OL QB ahead of WR

I think the WR class is much safer than the qb class. Green or Jones>all the qbs.
