Supposedly the rams gave up on him because they didn't view him as a sideline to sideline defender. Hmm...

I've never really understood what's sideline to sideline defender is susposed to mean? Is it solely a physical thing?

It's like a Sean Taylor honestly, a guy who can cover the whole field. That's what I understand anyway. LL is pretty damn good also at being all over the field.

Breaking down Atogwe's Redskins contract (http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/rams-report/article_0bcda9da-49e5-11e0-8d79-00127992bc8b.html)

There are no smoke and mirrors to the five-year contract signed by former St. Louis Rams safety Oshiomogho Atogwe with the Washington Redskins. It's a pretty straightforward contract, and is backloaded only slightly.

Atogwe gets base salaries of $900,000 in 2011, $3.4 million in 2012 and 2013, $3.6 million in 2014, and $3.7 million in 2015. That adds up to $15 million in base salary.

Atogwe also is in line to receive $11 million in roster bonuses and offseason workout bonuses over the life of the contract, raising its overall value to $26 million according to figures filed with the NFL Players Association.

Atogwe gets most of that roster bonus money -- $7 million -- this season. Throw in the $900,000 base salary and a $100, 000 offseason workout bonus and Atogwe will make $8 million this season -- which is exactly the amount of the roster bonus the Rams were unwilling to pay in February, leading to Atogwe's release.

The contract also calls for Atogwe to receive an additional $1.45 million in Years 2-5 if terms of an escalator clause are met.

So he's not a long term player, big deal. He makes us a better D right now and fills a need.

When we signed Fletcher he was already 31, does anyone regret making that move now??

I don't care how old he is...he's a team player, a baller, and he gets turnovers. He has experience and understands the system. Beats the hell out of the kind of deals we used to make...(Jason Taylor). That still makes me sick. :vomit:
