IMO go get a guy in the later rounds. Find a diamond in the rough. Coach up Moore and get him healthy. That's how I'd address it. Chasing a 30 year old safety when you're not contending for a Super Bowl makes 0 sense.

IDK about that man, sometimes it's not JUST about getting to a SB first.. You have to make a division run first.. Bottom Line is The guy will help our defense improve.

Great signing. Glad he didn't try to get ST jersey #. He's 30 which is a bit risky IMO. My friend lives in St. Louis and is a die-hard rams fan and said he's a ballhawk who just didn't fit Spag's scheme last year which was why his numbers were down a bit, but has improved his tackling each year he's been in the league. Hopefully we can get 3-4 solid years from him.

I just don't agree with signing a 30 year old safety on a bad team. OJ is not the long term solution IMO. But he's an upgrade so it is what it is.

So we are not to sign any players near 30? Yes, in a perfect world you want a young team. But the world is not perfect and no team is perfect in selecting players. Fielding some veterans mixed in with youth is not a bad thing. In fact the veterans provide leadership and teach the young guys how to play in the NFL. A larger percentage of college football players are NOT ready to play in the NFL. That is real. You talk about finding a diamond n the rough in the later rounds. That is easier said then done. If it were easy you would be a GM in the NFL.

Yeah and Atogwe has the third best number of turnovers since he joined the league. Definate upgrade. Imagine him with Landry. Great pick up.

Good move, not great, but good. It's a solid start and with the addition of a rush backer and a NT, we could see a great improvement in our defense. That's not to say that there won't be more growing pains, but we should see a better d. Hell, Atogwe can also provide the leadership and mentoring to help other guys in the secondary. The impact guys like him and Fletcher can have on a defense with just their football smarts can often outweigh any perceived loss in athletic ability.

Yes NT has no good players in FA that aren't ancient. OLB seems to me like Shannahan wants to go young and compliment Orakapo. So they both seem to be draft picks.

A late round safety like Doughty, Horton, Moore...

It's ok to pick up older players if your not trading away picks to get them. As long as we keep our picks we will begin to get younger naturally. So plugging in older guys that still have the fire an we don't over pay isn't a bad thing while we draft our asses off. The problem was our past poor judgment when selecting these vets, then over paying them and them not giving a damn anymore. I think OHA being reunited with hasslet and seeing the rawness of Landry will keep him excited and hungry.
