For a team that wants to get younger a 30 yo safety isn't going to do it. Having said that I hope he is as good as you lot hope and his best years are ahead of him. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Moore out there on the field along with Landry.

There is a difference in going to the probowl and being an allpro though. I don't think Taylor was ever an allpro, however he only played 3 1/2 seasons

What, a strong safety, free safety and....middle safety? :D

I guess we're switching to the 3-3 defense this year. Or, are we just cutting Carlos and letting D-Hall be the only CB on the field?

You can still get younger while adding vets. He fills an immediate need. We're simply not going to be able to fill all our needs through the draft alone. Free agency is part of the puzzle too.

How could a redskin fan forget ST was in the PB. Probably the hardest hit in a PB in the past 15 yrs.

YouTube - Sean Taylor Pro Bowl Hit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neGsutVPOXw)

I didn't forget. I said "All-Pro"...not pro-bowl. There is a huge difference in making the pro-bowl and the All-Pro team.

also, I remember that hit. It amazes me each time I see it. That's how the pro-bowl should be played and it was good to see at least one player bringing the passion.

The great thing about this is no draft picks are being used to acquire this player. I have more issues with us trading than I do with FA signings.

Agreed, when our young players aren't working out or just aren't starter-quality (like Kareem Moore and a couple of unnamed WRs), it is more important to put someone competent in their place.

"Going younger" is an overrated catch phrase. Sure, we don't want to load up with vets about to retire like we did in the Bruce Smith/Deion Sanders experiment, but the difference in average age from the youngest to the oldest teams in the league is less than 2 years (it was last time I saw the stat).

There are key positions you want longevity out of, like left tackle...but overall, ability is more important than age.

Amen to that. Especially since Atogwe is only 2 years removed from being the #6 overall "INT catcher" (very technical term) followed by the #2 in that category in 07 and 08. I don't see why anyone would complain to a FA signing as long as they dont get an @$$load of guaranteed money like Haynesworthless. I love this move. If we could get Barrett Ruud now I would be bouncing off the walls. MSW wouldn't be too bad either, I guess.... :)

Atogwe gets no $ prior to a potential lockout. His 6.5M roster bonus would be earned after a lockout at the commencement of '11 league year.

i know right? the fact the oj came here, visited, left, time passed, and then we made the deal says something to me. i do really think bruce allen is the right guy for the job no question about it.
