Mechanix544 03-04-2011, 12:00 PM This instantly upgrades our secondary to best in the NFC East...........and should we sign Rogers, and have barnes as our nickel, and Moore as a capable safety backup, we are actually in a damn good position concerning the secondary.
Be optomistic people!!!! The chess pieces are starting to move.
Now if we could scrape out a 4th for Haynesworth and McDrabb, and pair em together for a 3rd round pick, we'd be good for the draft.
CRedskinsRule 03-04-2011, 12:04 PM I guess I'll be the only one who's against this. It looks like he a proven playmaking type of safety, and the contract makes sense. But he's almost 30 and by the time this team plans to be a contender, he's going to be on the downside of his career. You get a player like this when you're on the verge of contending. So to me this is just another band aid type move.
So, given that:
1- your pro's (proven player, apparent good contract) aren't enough for you to have a positive response,
2- the team has more pressing needs (at least NT and QB) that have to be addressed in the draft
How should the team have addressed the FS spot in your opinion? or are you saying that you are good with Doughty/Moore until a high draft pick could be used for the position.
12thMan 03-04-2011, 12:05 PM Does Atogwe have much left in the tank? I'm not too excited about this move. It seems like patchwork, using worn out patches.
Left in the tank? for crying out loud the guy is 29 going on 30. Think Ed Reed, Charles Woodsson, Troy Polamalu (turns 30 befor Atogwe, and a host of others who are very productive at this age.
I think behind and Reed and Charles Woodson, he's created more turnovers than any other defender in the NFL since '06.
Jontrem 03-04-2011, 12:06 PM Are you seriously comparing the career of Sean Taylor to those other Hall of Fame greats? Really? Am I missing something? Did Sean Taylor make the Hall of Fame? Was he even remotely close? Hell, did he even make a All-Pro once? Nope. He wasn't as good as you all make him out to be. Sure, his death was tragic and it ended a person's life in his prime, but let's not pump him up to be something he wasn't. (a legend)
I think Atogwe has every right to wear the number considering the guy wore #21 in college and in the pros. (i know he's said he's not wearing it though)
edit: I like the signing, and hopefully it works a lot better than the Archuletta signing...lol
To alot of people Taylor was the best Redskin they have ever seen play the game. People under 25 didn't really get to enjoy D Green let alone any of the others. Also his death had a very large impact on the team/community. I dont think players or fans would appreciate another player wearing that number.
firstdown 03-04-2011, 12:08 PM I'll have to say I know nothing about the guy.

No, no and yes.
I was just using your line of thought...if a great player has died and some time has passed, forget about him and hand out his number! :D
All that I listed + #21 should stay in the Ring of Honor and off the field. There's probably a few more too. We roster 52 guys, we can afford to put a dozen out of service if warranted.
Monkeydad 03-04-2011, 12:35 PM LOOK, Kareem Moore voted! (1 thumbs down)
