SmootSmack 04-21-2011, 01:25 AM What are "poor presences" Dirtbag59 04-21-2011, 01:32 AM You can't be serious? What is it about Jake Lockers mediocre play through his career that would merit him going 10th overall? Was in inaccurate passing, poor presences, poor leadership skills, poor completion percentage, or mediocre winning percentage? It's not his mediocre play. It's his rare physical skill set. His ability to push the ball down field and extend plays. His experience running plays off play action. His accuracy outside the pocket (over 70% completion percentage outside the tackles). His mobility that will allow him to buy extra time. Also I think you're reaching on the poor leadership skills. The average production and the accuracy problems are valid concerns but character wise the guy is about as good as it gets. Per ESPN: Outstanding competitor. Shows no fear. Will hang in the pocket and take the hit in order to deliver the ball on time. Teammates have tremendous respect for him as a leader. Proved numerous times in 2010 that he will play through injury. Drafted twice by MLB teams and signed a six-year rights agreement in 2009 with Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who are paying his scholarship costs. Hard worker. Teammates and coaches have nothing but praise for him as a person and player. Determined to succeed. Most importantly above all, the guy who knows QB's (Shanahan) is reported to love him as a potential QB for this offense. Personally I think Lockers a bad fit for 90% of the league. However he has the intangibles and physical skill set to succeed and his combination of mobility and arm strength alone make him a great fit for a team that wants to run passes off of bootlegs and play action. cdskins26 04-21-2011, 01:44 AM You can't be serious? What is it about Jake Lockers mediocre play through his career that would merit him going 10th overall? Was in inaccurate passing, poor presences, poor leadership skills, poor completion percentage, or mediocre winning percentage? he successfully managed a game against a significantly better nebraska team that had walked through them earlier in the season. he also has something that cannot be coached, toughness. he wants to win as much as anyone, and is definitely motivated to succeed. My rankings for these quarterbacks are: 1. Newton 2. Gabbert 3. Locker 4. Mallett 5. Dalton 6. Ponder 7. Kaperneck 8. Stanzi and there is really so little seperating most of these players, nobody can really tell who will end up the best. For me it's more along the lines of High Floor High Ceiling ........okay no one. Medium Floor, Medium to High Ceiling Blaine Gabbert Andy Dalton Christian Ponder Low Floor, High Ceiling Kaepernick Low Floor, Ridiculously High Ceiling Cam Newton Jake Locker Ryan Mallet Swarley 04-21-2011, 01:57 AM You can't be serious? If being able to run and passing the ball down field was all that was required of a qb Mike Vick would be the best qb in league and Jake Locker isn't have as talented as Vick. Jake Locker is poor leader because he doesn't make the players around him better. Jake Locker had a 55% completion percentage last year and that is not good at all. Jake Locker went up against mostly second and third tier teams and still didn't produce any big numbers or wins. There is nothing rare about his skill set. Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick both possess the same skill set that on differences those guys are true leaders and better players. MS can love this kid all he wants. Remember this was the same guy that traded a second rounder and our fourth rounder this year for DMAC who he know longer wants on the team. Plus that was last year when people kinda of like Locker. What has he came out and said about Locker lately? Landry44 04-21-2011, 02:08 AM there's also a general lack of quality passers in this years draft so taking the quarterback we most believe in may be the best we can do. Ryan Mallett is definitely a quality passer. In my opinion he's the best qb in this draft. Swarley 04-21-2011, 02:16 AM but he's also a statue, something that the league as a whole seems to be moving away from when it comes to QB's. Lotus 04-21-2011, 08:23 AM What are "poor presences" When ghosts appear in your house and ask you for loans, they are poor presences. 30gut 04-21-2011, 09:41 AM You can't be serious? What is it about Jake Lockers mediocre play through his career that would merit him going 10th overall? Was in inaccurate passing, poor presences, poor leadership skills, poor completion percentage, or mediocre winning percentage? Why so serious? What is about Jake Locke'rs great play in lifting an 0-12 team to a bowl game win that you don't see? Was is his ability to make bigtime throws in key situations and outstanding accuracy outside the pocket and on the move, 'great presences', elite arm strength and playmaking ability, quick release, great leadership skills, tunring around an entire football program? |
