What a great outcome this would be:

The Scout's Mock | National Football Post (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-Scouts-Mock.html)

It seems like the most realistic to me. The big question is in regards to this guys "Mock" is did the team pick up any other draft picks in the trade down scenario? Like is his idea that the Skins get a 3rd rounder or 4th rounder as well while making the trade?

yea great plan. I think smith is better than jordan. better compliment to orakapo. Julio Jones is not a smart pick for us. Acho sounds good but wouldn't need him with smith. I think then in the second we pick up Ponder

I just can't get over the guy from the Examiner saying that he heard the Redskins will find a way to get Locker. If that's the case hopefully they can trade back and pick up a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

The only change I would make is Cam Jordan as the pick rather than Smith. Jordan is a better fit at 3-4 DE than Smith and we don't need another 4-3 RDE convert to OLB project. Playing experience and injury also a concern with Smith.Well, converting DEs to OLBs is one of the very few development projects the Skins haven't typically failed at.

I think the potential impact of a Smith is greater than that of Jordan, and I don't know how well Jordan will fit as a 3-4 end, but I have both rated as top ten players in this draft, so it would be hard to complain either way. Both needs are glaring, although in both cases, there are players on the roster that make you think you could have an in-house solution (Rob Jackson, Jeremy Jarmon).

yea Locker did alright from what i hear on his proday. At least he has the best intangibles i think out of all the quarterbacks. A real leader. Not like Tebow but almost as good in that department. Accuracy is a lingering issue still

I'm with you. If we are adding teeth to the defense, let's get those teeth right up front. Jordan should be an excellent run stopper who can also rush the passer (thus freeing up Rak as Smith, at his best, would do) and he already has experience as a 3-4 DE.

if we trade down into the late teens its to take Locker if we dont take him at 10

We're not taking Locker at #10

The way I hear/see it-Gabbert and Newton are the first two QBs in the draft, both in the top 10 (neither to us). Ponder is moving up, possibly mid first (as much as I'd like him I find that stunning, but whatever), Mallet is a wild card. A lot of people think he'll be the 3rd overall QB taken simply because of his talent. The character issues most are putting aside, or so it seems right now.

That leaves Kaepernick, Dalton, and Locker as the next tier-possibly in that order. At least one of them will be available when we pick in the 2nd round.

And depending on what the Vikings and Niners do in the 1st round (and possibly free agency) re: their QB situation we could conceivably trade down as low as 50th overall with the Chargers and get our QB there and pick up a 3rd round pick

True but what if shanny wants Locker enough to trade back into the late first? That's been mentioned by some draft experts.
