Allen is definitely involved in the "deal making".

It's their job to get it right and not screw it up. There really wasn't much upside to the McNabb deal. You don't make blockbuster trades for a single 33 year old when your team is 15 pieces away from being good. Even if there was upside and it just didn't pan out it was still a horrible deal. Screw hindsight. You don't put your team in a hole like that, that's your job. You don't see Bill Bellicheck/Ted Thompson making blockbuster misses.

Jamaal Brown was probably a good trade at the time, but that didn't work out. There was upside, just didn't pan out.

Carriker was a very good trade for us.

Belicheck has also been with the organization and has a stable gameplan and framework which works well for the franchise. Shanny and Allen haven't been afforded that length of time to get to know the personnel that well and get an established system in place. You are comparing apples to rice-a-roni. Not even apples to oranges. Rice-a-roni.

Even the best, Newsome, Beathard, Belichick, make bad personnel decisions

 It certainly couldn't make him play any worse.

Um...it's mainly a guess based on other current rumors. If that makes sense

SS, have you heard anything about how serious is our FO would be moving out of the 10 spot? If guys like Julio Jones, the "Prince" fall, 10 would be a good to take them.

Heard Darth Hoody in NE is almost a guarentee to want to move up.

Well they certainly want to add picks. May be easier to move down in the 2nd round though

I sense that J.J. Watt wants to prove he'd be an elite pro. It reminds me of Clay Matthews. He was a solid but not a dominate prospect coming out of USC and it wasn't widely known that that he posessed such great swagger. The rest is history.

One thing I find funny about college players coming into the draft is that you'll often see somebody who gets drafted lower for not being "explosive" a la Clay Matthews. The consensus with him was that he was an intelligent football player, but lacked the top end explosiveness that Cushing and Orakpo had.

Two years later and yes you're right, because of his "explosiveness" the rest is history.

I also like J.J. Watt, only I see him completely different than I saw Matthews. Watt is as explosive as you'll see coming off the line for a 290 pound tackle. He also works harder than anybody on Wisconsin (big Badger fan), this guy could be the gem in this draft who's being overlooked because of the big 3 in Dareus, Fairley, and Bowers.

1. Panthers-Gabbert- When it comes down to it, I think a new coach will feel too pressured to pick a QB with the top pick. I don't think most teams will want Newton this high.

2. Broncos-Dareus- Normally I'd pick Bowers here because Fox is gonna want his peppers. But then I realized that he is financially committed to Dumerville. Taking Bowers would limit Dumerville, but taking Dareus would improve him. Plus Denver's Dt's are a huuuuge joke.

3. Bills-Newton- Just because thats what all the reports are saying. Gailey is historically transparent in his drafting.

4. Bengals- Fairley - Bengals don't care about character issues, and this guy is a freak. Their young WR's stepped up when given the chance to start last year, and I feel like they have more faith in their DE's than DT's. Zimmer seems similar to Williams in that they don't like starting rookies (Dunlap didn't start besides his 10 sacks), and their 4-3 philosophy relies heavily around the secondary (which they have 2 great corners). Their veteran DT's don't consistantly start games, or make statistical impact. Plus a pass rushing DT will help the DE's in their job.

5. Cardinals- Miller- Wisenhunt sees the importance of LB's coming from Pittsburgh (and the loss of Dansby).

6. Cleveland- Green- Need a WR baaaadddddddd. Shurmur needs to test McCoy.

7. SF- Peterson- They can't pass up the best player in the draft here.

8. Tenn- Amukamara- They are really dying for Fairley to drop here (which might happen because I think the bengals might take a DE-Bowers or Quinn). Their head coach values the line (offense and defense) heavily. I don't see them going DE two years in a row though. Two of their corners had 100 tackles. To me that indicates alot of completed passes. Amukamara probably 2nd on their wish list, but still fills a need.

9. Dallas- Smith- Jerry Jones doesn't want Romo running for his life anymore.

10. Washington- Jones- Without moss, we are just screwed at WR. I'd LOVE for us to go DL here but IMO that is long term thinking, which is not something anyone in the Redskins organization does. Plus the combine and speed is something Shanny seems to really value.

alt redskins pick-Bowers. Would probably play a 3-4 pass rushing DE. This sketchy injury situation combined with Bowers being a one year wonder I think will make him drop though. I'd personally prefer to roll the dice on him, or take someone else like Cam Jordan or JJ Watt.
