A superficial knife wound to the chest would likely not penetrate the chest cavity. If a knife wound did penetrate the chest cavity then Banks is in danger of having a pneumothorax (the lay term is collapsed lung) which is commonly treated by inserting a chest tube to prevent a more serious complication called a tension pneumothorax. Seen plenty of those in my DC General days...

He's also a little/thin guy so he would likely be fairly susceptible to blunt chest trauma.

I was about to post the same thing. He is so thin, a knife has much less further to travel to puncture a vital organ. I am glad he is ok.
Just as important, I hope he learns from this experience.
The whole Gangsta thug thing needs to stop. Leave that shit to the rappers and other unfortunate souls that find it cool.

Terrible thing here. I really hope Banks has learned a valuable lesson. Starting fights outside a nightclub with strangers is just a terribly stupid thing to do. And be aware of the type of people you hang with. He could've easily been killed over some real stupid shit.

Me too. I saw the headline and immediately thought, "Oh no, another Sean Taylor story."

I was thinking the same thing, but now that the facts have come out this is anything but "a Sean Taylor story." Taylor was defending his family in a home invasion. Banks was apparently acting stupid outside a nightclub.

Are there really any "facts" that have been established, other than he got stabbed? His agent says its a fact that he's a victim, i.e. he didn't start it, but other reports indicate he did.

Sounds like this could impact him long-term?

I just related it to Taylor because of the potential life threatening situation, not based on their actions at the time they were injured.
