Only on a web board could someone speaking of current conditions be told to "give it a rest" and have that followed up by slamming a president who has been out of office for over 2 years. I actually laughed out loud.

It's amazing how everyone just basically got up the balls to express how dissatisfied they are with their current regimes. In those countries it's damn scary to speak out, you can get killed for it. But en masse, they're doing it.

Just goes to show how the people there are not at all different from us (except for the religious nutjobs). They just want to be heard and to be free.

Social media played a role too. Good job Zuckerberg.

I was reading about the Yugoslav Wars recently and about the student led movement that contributed to Milosevic's ultimate surrender and two things stand out to me.

One, that they were doing much of what the youth in those countries today are doing. But without the benefits of social networking. And two, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the CIA were covertly assisting these students with their overthrows much like they have in years and decades past

And the Republicans are worried about planned parenthood. And just like that nothing gets done because each side is bitching about petty little things.

Thats called cutting the budget which helps our dept. I hope they keep cutting and while we are on the subject I'm tired of my tax dollars paying for that crap.

Yes I remember the high gas prices when Bush was in office because the left did not let us forget the high prices. I believe they said Bush and Cheney were big oil guys. So what will we call Obama?

Switzerland is being very pro-active in regards to freezing assets:

Well that's the justification. My point is that both sides of the aisle will bring up issues that take up resources and time, and don't focus on bigger issues. The only reason Obama is dealing with gay marriage, is because your side spent a lot of time and resources to make it illegal.

Just trying to prove the point that for every complain you may have about the left, I can bring up something similar about the right.

This is why I hate politics in general and I am very disillusioned at the political system in this country. Both sides get on their party agendas and barely get anything done.

I've had the same thought over the last week.
