Yes, muscle memory is not easy to "re-encode" yet if applied with much effort, the "new code" will "overwrite" the "old code". I think footwork is more "coachable" than many other aspects that goes into a QB's throw since.
I don't think planting is irrelevant to QB'ing since the QB uses the whole body to throw. A slight difference body part positioning is very likely to affect how the ball is going to come out.
I don't have a horse in this race as I don't know any of the QBs well enough, but I did think what Mayock pointed was interesting.
Your first paragraph sounds like a quote from Hal the computer in the movie, "2001, A Space Odyssey".
So, would you agree that in essence Mayock was saying that patience is a virtue when thinking of drafting Locker. I hear project in what you said Mayock mentioned when talking about Locker's delivery.
The reason I mentioned the word "project" is because throwing a pass with ill-advise lower half technique is a time learning concept than say, a shoulder throwing technique. Meaning that the upper body motion is easier to correct with practice. Which in itself is less cumbersome.

If I had to go by his Senior Bowl performance, which is the only time I actually have seen him play, I would take Locker in a lower round IF I wanted to take him. Yes, Locker needs much polish indeed.

So realizing how the Skins are defined by schemes and positional depth, what would you do with the first round pick we have?

The most I can say is that I would generally take BPA over need. I'm not qualified to propose anything more detailed.

What I found interesting was when Mayock broke down Locker's footwork. His base is initially very narrow and then becomes really wide. They then said that that was like an infielder's throwing motion. He actually was a pitcher and outfielder
Perhaps some of Locker's issues are fixable.
Do you recall that clip from Bill Walsh we talked about in another thread?(i believe it was the Sam Bradford thread?)
The focus of Bill Walsh's QB instruction was from the waist down.

I appreciate the thanks but I don't deserve most of the credit. The props should go to the guy(s) who found and uploaded these docs and those Wikipedia users who linked it there. But hey, I'm glad I helped a fellow fan out. :)
