"More Than A Game" was written by Brian Billick and Michael MacCambridge. Biran Billick is a very intelleigent person who also happens to be a football coach. Michael MacCambridge has written several books on sports and has proven to be an excellent writer. His book "The Franchise" was a history of the establishment and the evolution of Sports Illustrated. I think it is one of the three or four best sports-themed books I've ever read.
"More That A Game" is only 200 pages long but it contains a lot of insight and information that NFL fans ought to enjoy. Of particular interest are:
1. The role of the GM in an NFL franchise and what a GM does in conjunction with the coach.
2. The dangers associated with a team "falling in love with its players".
3. Some "backstage" observations about the NFL Draft
4. The issues and the economics of football as they relate to the currently ongoing CBA negotiations.
The book costs under $20 at Amazon.com. You can also find it at your local library. It is an entertaining and informative read.
Enjoy...
I've been meaning to read this, heard it's good. Thanks for the reminder.
I'm just finishing up Sean Payton's book.

Has anyone read Pat Kirwins book? Take your eyes off the ball? I am thinking of checking that out after I finish my current book?

Yeah it's decent. Probably best for people who really don't know a ton about football. It's football 101, nothing ground breaking but he does a nice job at covering the basics. It's a good quick read.

I keep meaning to read the book. I always go to the bookstore or library, read a few pages, get interested, and then I ended up not taking the book.
