Well, I think that there's a stigma put on overweight coaches in the NFL, you don't see many of them. Holmgren is the only one I can think of. A lot of people said Marylands coach, Ralph Reagent (sp?) would be in the NFL right now if he "looked like a coach"
Andy Reid is doing ok for a big guy

ouch, that's pretty harsh man.
Losing weight isn't an easy thing to do for some people, and for some it has more to do with genetics than determination or discipline.
I'm guessing he's probably tried to lose weight the traditional way and turned to this surgery as a last resort.
Yeah I don't think he just woke up one morning and decided he wanted to lose weight right then. I'm sure he tried the conventional way for a long time and it just wasn't working
I'm not sure why it's that big a deal how much he weighs. As I understand it, a lot of it has to do with "how can you ask your players to stay in shape if you can't yourself". That's one of the reasons George Allen used to stay fit and run with the team, right?
By the way, I think Ralph Friedgen should definitely get a shot as an NFL head coach.

Here's another big guy who I think deserves a shot as a head coach (http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/roger_brown/index.ssf?/base/sports/1102847415111894.xml)
Parcells is another guy who's overweight but is a 'ok' coach
Madden back in the day did alright too

I'm not saying thats the first thing they look at. Madden was in a different era, and Parcells got in when he was young and skinny. You can't fire a guy that's winning because he grew a gut at 60 something!

The whole country owes us a debt of gratitude if we keep Reid out of those damn tights.

I kinda wanna see it. I don't want to see the TD on us, but who knows, maybe Andy Reid will like it, abandon his coaching career, and be the best damn Peter Pan EVER!

As an ND fan, I like the hire. The past two weeks have been a disaster for ND. ND needs a ND guy and someone who knows a thing or two about offense and they found it in Weis.
I am also an Irish fan, and have been disappointed in our record the last few years, unfortunately, unless ND lowers it's strict requirements especially academic standards ND will be in the same boat no matter who is the coach....IMHO

I have no sympathy for him.
