I regret the $6.7 milion in dead money on next seasons cap we cannot use on getting some new players, $4.6 million of which belongs to Trotter. If Mike Barrow retires the number jumps even higher.
Was Releasing Trotter a MistakeDefensewins 12-11-2004, 12:46 PM I regret the $6.7 milion in dead money on next seasons cap we cannot use on getting some new players, $4.6 million of which belongs to Trotter. VTSkins897 12-11-2004, 02:42 PM i regret even signing trotter in the first place. classic mistake of wasting money when we had decent talent. i thought kevin (keith?) mitchell was a decent mlb. let yer playmakers play on the outside. how many ray lewis' are there? urlachers? in addition to mitchell we would have had pierce too. mistake. and to answer, i'm glad he's gone. Daseal 12-11-2004, 02:49 PM Offiss is dead on again. I said a million times we never used trotter correctly. He's meant to go up the middle, not be a prototypical MLB. That being said, I'm glad we have Pierce and I think our defense is better because of it. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 12-11-2004, 06:03 PM Just thought I'd throw it out there. I agree with the consensus that it was good to release him; but the cap hit hurts. memphisskin 12-11-2004, 06:15 PM Trotter's cap hit will hurt, but paying him what I make now would be too much for the production he gave in DC. I think his signing was typical of Dan Snyder, the kind of moves I think we've avoided except for Brunell. But for Trotter, it just didn't pan out because he got hurt and we changed defensive coordinators like they were socks. Do I regret releasing him, hmmm.... Let's see, we cut him, and now we've got the #2 defense in the league with one of the stingiest run defenses even with backups at MLB and OLB including the leader of the team LaVar Arrington. I think I'm going to take "No Regrets & Wish Him Well" for 1000 Alex. saden1 12-11-2004, 06:16 PM Trotter isn't anything special at this point in his career. Certainly not better than what we have. I would even go as far as saying Pierce is better. Gmanc711 12-11-2004, 06:18 PM Trotter isn't anything special at this point in his career. Certainly not better than what we have. I would even go as far as saying Pierce is better. Trotter is better at stoping the run, but Perice is more useful overall because his cover skills are about 5 times better than Trotters. I agree with your statment. JWsleep 12-11-2004, 07:22 PM Not sure that Trotter was really a "reskins" guy either. Oh, well. It's crying over spilt milk. Let's just block his ass this sunday. And more importantly, he would not fit in with the Greg Williams defense. Williams trys to confuse people with what he brings on each play. Linebackers must be able to cover, play specific assignments, and have the speed to get to a point. offiss 12-12-2004, 01:22 AM Plus from what I saw on an interview in the locker room last season lavar insinuated that Trotter had bad breath that can't be good for a team trying to come together. |
