Bruce Allen is already casting the bait out into the pond. No outright releases for our two most precious trade chips until the 11th hour.

Bruce Allen is Shanahan's first-class golden retreiver.

Ok, here's my bright idea.... we trade Doug Dutch for whoever we are looking to pick up, then when he gets cut we pick him back up and do it all over again. ;)

I mean it worked once. We got Beck and we picked Dutch back up after the Ravens cut him.

Maybe we can do something like the red paperclip story (http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/)

For a team badly in need of players, I really don't see who we could trade that would fetch any value more than what the player would mean to us. Our established players are the teams core, our younger players have not [especially those who started for the first time this year] played enough to be able to submit a trade resume. Moss, McIntosh and Rogers are unrestricted, free to sign with any team, it's not likely the team will trade Cooley, one of it's most productive players. Orakpo, Landry and Hall aren't likely to be traded, after these players you have to search deep to find more players with trade value.

Agreed.. the people saying that they'd take a 3rd or 4th for Cooley? I mean I'm not saying he'd fetch a 2nd pick offer but can you guarantee you can replace that production with your pick? Blue collar trades are really all that we might be able to accomplish.

WOW. You filled in the blank. Fassel will be the new OC under Haslett.

He and Graham Gano = Championship (it has happened before!)

2011 Redskins:

HC - Jim Haslett
OC - Jim Fassel
DC - Jim Schwartz

QB - Grossman
Stats = 4,715 yds, 37 TDs, 21 INTs, 21 fumbles lost, sacked 43 times, 32 rushing yds

NFL Defensive POY - Haynesworth

NFL MVP - Graham Gano (A Skins kicker proved it can happen)

Super Bowl MVP - Kevin Barnes

Don't you love the offseason?

Whatever you are smoking as you are typing, it has to be illegal... :nono:

Where can I get some? ;)

Was the one you just used on Allen flattering or insulting.

Man I hope we don't trade AH to the Eagles. Sorry, just thinking out loud.

Neither. Just how I think it works up there. Shanahan wants something, Allen will fetch it for him to the best of his ability. Shanahan is however, open to suggestions from him, like Galloway and Bidwell. I think they'll always have a good relationship unless something absolutely crazy happens.

Anyone think of this?
The skins essentially "buy" a better draft pick by making McNabb's contract more favorable for the next team...say give him some sort of immediate roster bonus then stretch the contract another year....McNabb would be happy and the new team could afford him per year much better....making him more valuable and increase his trade value from a 5th rounder to potentially ...don't laugh....a 3rd.
It will just cost a few million bucks.

Keep in mind...we could also somehow find a way to have contracts redone so they become unrestricted free agents (such as Haynesworth)....which could yield us as much as a trade or more as a compensory pick (theoretically).

Please someone correct me if I am wrong...just getting creative on how to get better picks....I still wanted Randy Moss midseason....just so releasing him would result in a compensory pick....we need to start thinking like the Pats....10 picks a year, every year...now that is a team building goal.
I can't remember how many times I've seen the Pats have multiple picks in the first 2 rounds the last few years....all this while making the playoffs almost every year.
