Garrett stays with Bovine Boys
AP source: Cowboys pick Jason Garrett as new coach - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-cowboys-coach)
I really don't know what to think about this....wonder what sandtrap has to say?
Of course I hope Garrett is a huge flop...but I worry that he is likely a big improvement over Wade. What do you guys think?....as this is the only HC change that I care about since they are in our division

This makes me think a lockout is almost certain now
Why do you say that?

^ because luck had a chance to make 50M and if harbaugh stays at stanford over the NFL? They know something, also Jerry Jones just said yesterday he bets on a lockout

Well the Harbaugh deal isn't done yet. He still could be a Dolphin. And, while the public word is Luck wants to continue his college career and education, there is private buzz that he simply doesn't want to play for Carolina. Who really knows

Well...luck staying at Stanford may be because he was hoping to play for Harbaugh or something...and he doesn't know who the new coach is now...and Jerry Jones or any owner stating opinion about a lockout aint worth much at this point...in fact it may just be a threat to gain leverage for the owners....there will be a ton of threats/opinions from owners/players going forward, most of which will mean very little.
Although, I see your point about Luck's 50M.
If there is a lockout, does that affect sign-on bonuses from the draft?
If so, it may make sense not to risk that if you are still a junior in college.

Good question, I would think if the guy does'nt play due to a Lockout he would still get the bonus but maybe not... Greed is a B****

Not sure if this is wise....if there is a rookie cap next year...or if he performs less than perfectly...he will lose millions.
There is a distinct possibility that this years #1 pick may be the last unregulated #1 pick in history...and he is almost a lock for it.
This may be the last year of crazy money for rookies. It will be interesting to compare this years #1 dollars to the dollars he gets next year in the draft.

Hey, I'm not arguing that it helps them be a better coach, I'm just saying teams look at that as a positive. I'm not a fan of hiring college coaches at all just because of the Spurrier ordeal. Hoo you should know by now that sometimes logic doesn't always work in the NFL. Spurrier never should've been hired in the first place but that didn't stop Snyder. Same thing with all the other retread college coaches, Bobby Petrino never should've left college football.
EDIT: And could've mentioned this before but he runs a pro style offense at Stanford. If you think that doesn't factor into it as well you'd be wrong.
Which is what I said about 2 pages ago. It's one thing to look at a college coach and express oppinions about how he will make it at the Pro level when he doesn't run a pro system. But Harbaugh runs a pro system so I doubt that will be an issue. Where I think his problems will present itself is who he brings in to his coaching staff.
I didn't see it but I thought about it and was like, wait I just watched them and their pro style offense destroy VT in the second half of the Orange Bowl lol. Either way the point remains the same.
