One thing you guys are forgetting is that everyone was saying that we where dumb for benching DM in the first place. That tells me people still think McNabb can play and I see a 3rd for him.
Yeah, but how much of that was the usual bandwagon jumping? His success rate was spotty at best.

I don't think he's a top 25 starter in this league, primarily because of his inaccuracy. When you factor in what his financial expectations are, his seeming unwillingness to change/adjust and his propensity for passive aggressive drama, he's going to have very few options. I'd say it would have to be a team with talent everywhere but behind center, with a coach that needs to win now. Who does that leave?
Arizona- Pretty unlikely since Skelton didn't look bad the other night and Whisenhunt has publicly claimed no interest.
Cincinnati- Only makes sense if they let Palmer go and Marvin Lewis stays. I'm guessing TO would need to be out of town as well...
Miami- If Sparano is kept around and doesn't trust his career to Chad Henne, this could make sense. They've got a strong ground game and showed that they are not averse to big money free agents. The owner is also a fame/publicity whore who's having trouble filling seats.
Minnesota- Honestly, they need to get a look at Webb. He could be a diamond in the rough. Failing that, it would depend on the new coach and the offensive system he chooses.
Tennessee- if Young leaves and Fisher stays. Fisher is obviously willing to gamble on past their prime players. (See: Moss, Randy)
The above is, imho, a max list. In actuality, probably only 2 of those teams will have any interest. I think he really hurt himself this year and the past couple with the drama.
More and more I see these as possibilities. I don't think Minnesota will make that move now, not with Childress gone and Webb-mania running wild. I don't see AZ happening either since there has been as much smoke coming from there saying 'no'.
Miami is really intriguing because there's a lot going on there. They have some talent at WR, a good OL and somewhat of a running game (but I think both are FA this year). Ross wants a big name as a coach but I don't see Cowher or Gruden coming. Fisher, maybe but Childress could emerge here as well. If Fisher is fired and Chilly doesn't go to Miami, he could land in Tennessee. That's the McNabb link. Together, they could make the Dolphins a contender in the AFC East. The biggest mistake we did with McNabb was trying to change who he was. If we accepted that he was a 6 rather than a 10 and worked with that then our offense may have performed better. I blame Shanny(s) for being a bit stubborn because as many observers noted, this is who McNabb is.. He will hit the big plays, be inaccurate at times, make some plays with his feet and be comfortable doing what he likes to do.

There will be a new coach who wants a veteran at QB to lean on Dmac will be dealt and we will get some of what we gave up to get him.

Which time? The Detroit game, definitely a dumb move. The second benching, nope. I agree wholeheartedly that the best for the Redskins at the point of the team being eliminated from the playoffs was sitting McNabb and seeing what we have with Grossman. So far, it's been a pretty decent move.

I think the benching of McNabb was a decent move, however there is something even bigger that bugs me about this benching. It basically says, we (the FO) screwed up, and gave up a 2nd and a 4th to have McNabb play for 13 games. I just feel that as a rebuilding team, we could have used that 2nd rounder this past year on something else (i.e. getting Terence Cody to be our NT or a Guard/Center of the future) instead of gambling on a QB that's a bit past his prime.
Seeing Grossman behind center makes me think we could have address other areas of need while playing a mediocre QB; and set things up for that QB of the future in the 2011 draft.

In terms of "surprise value":
Take the title of this thread and put it in the same category of "surprises" as:
Tuesday came after Monday this week
Brown bears do indeed go poo in the woods
Glenn Beck had something bad to say about Barack Obama
Keith Olbermann had something bad to say about Glenn Beck.
At the end of the day - - - it is night!

Here's one thing I can attest to. After listening to my local sports show's (SF Bay Area) the DM5 chatter is starting to pick up. I can't count how many callers, and hosts have suggested that they bring in DM5 and draft Kellan Moore in the second round.
Now I doubt the ownership is going to make a move based on what the fans want, however it's interesting to hear the buzz. I think SF is the best fit for him. I really hope he goes there.

Minny is the best fit for Mcnabb.
but is McNabb the best fit for Minny? I think that they'll be looking past the let's get a QB that can win us a SB mode this year.. Tavaris has shown flashes of being starter material and Joe Webb last night did a couple of things to make you say hmm

I'll be glad if the 9ers grab him. He won't win a Super Bowl, ever. 10 years from now, everyone will be raving about Josh Freeman and McNabb will be the famous afterthought who couldn't get it done.
