I really hate the way this has played out with McNabb. Frankly, I am rather embarrassed by how the Shanahans have handled it, it is just another blunder this organization seems to continually make.

Rex did well yesterday, but it was one game so I would not get too excited about it.

Why was this a blunder? Other then the benching him in the Lions game benching him now is fine with me and after yesterday looks like the right decision. As far as picking our starting QB I'd rather guess that after the last game of the season.

Is that legitimate scoop or coal in the stocking?

Personally, i think we should trade whatever we have to to get Luck. Seriously, the dudes going to be one of the best QBs ever. I'd trade our 1st and 2nd this year, plus our 1st rounders the next two years to move up 5-6 spots to get him.

I don't think we would have to give up that much to get him would we? Something like this year and next years first rounder should do it though. Also I think he has a very good chance to be a good QB, but to say a college sophomore is going to be one of the best QBs is a little over the top. Unless there was some sarcasm I was missing?

No way Mcnabb is coming back so it will probably be Grossman. Not quite sure what everyone sees in Jake L. I've only seen him play a few times and was not impressed at all.

I will bump this thread and answer this poll when or if training camp opens and we have our semi-finalized roster on board. I'm just taking the easy way out simply because a lot of things can happen between now and Opening Day 2011. I really don't have an idea of where the 'Skins are going to go with the qb position. I think they'll go draft but the draft is a matter of where we land and who's available. They might not even take a qb if all the good ones are gone by the time we pick.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

Seriously though, he's one of several names who have been mentioned as possibilities. Locker and Newton are commonly mentioned as guys the Skins will target in the draft (Locker more so than Newton), which of course means we'll take Mallett.

One of the Shanahan apparently likes Locker more than Newton, the other Newton more than Locker. We'll see who, if either, wins out. Either way, both supposedly agree that Locker and Newton aren't quite ready for NFL play so they will look for someone to hold down the fort in 2011, Perhaps for all of 2011. Among the candidates to hold down the fort that I heard last week (granted this was before The Benching) were the fairly obvious choices: McNabb, Grossman, Beck (yeah, I don't really get it either), and Alex Smith (along with Marc Bulger and Bruce Gradkowski, both long shot considerations though).

There's also some thought that Shanahan thinks maybe he can do for Smith what he did for Plummer, and that really all Alex Smith needs is some consistency, instead of having to learn a new offense under a new offensive coordinator every year (sound familiar?)

But, as I've mentioned before, this Redskins front office is much tougher to figure out than the previous one. It was pretty easy to get inside info, even as I move further to the outside, with Vinny in the house. That's the one thing I miss about him being there

I voted Locker, as Smoot keeps saying the shannys dig him alot. Hopefully, this will be the final year we have a draft pick this high in the 1st round, so this is the ideal time to draft a franchise QB.Right now, i'm assuming we have a draft pick no lower than 7, and, if we took a qb that high in the draft, he'd be expected to start opening day.

Although Rex seems like the safe pick, I also think he's in a position to make him the #1 FA QB available. That said, I don't think any team will break the bank for him, so if we want to, we should be able to resign him.

Personally, i think we should trade whatever we have to to get Luck. Seriously, the dudes going to be one of the best QBs ever. I'd trade our 1st and 2nd this year, plus our 1st rounders the next two years to move up 5-6 spots to get him.
I think we will be closer to the 11th spot. Right now the standings are:
Car 2-12
Cinci 3-11
Den 3-11
Buff 4-10
Det 4-10
Az 4-10
Min 5-9
Houst 5-9
SF 5-9
Clev 5-9
Wash 5-9
Dal 5-9

Draft ties are decided by strength of schedule(weakest schedule goes first), and we and Dallas had the strongest schedules out of this group. Carolina, Denver and Cincinatti are guaranteed to be ahead of us, since they at worst would tie us. So our absolute best draft spot is number 4, if we lose both games, and everyone else wins out. Dallas will likely beat Arizona, so Arizona will be below us. Anyway, if it were held today we would pick either 11th or 12th.

I don't know these qb's, so I can't say much about who we should get, but over 8th position it's going to be hard to jockey around enough to get any of the top qb picks (unless they free fall like last year)
