I am not quite sure how benching a Named QB, and starting possible replacements to see how they do, is doing the same thing over and over. The only good thing about all of these recent moves is that clearly no-one is above reproach (except Rabach and those dang pictures). Yeah, it doesn't do good for PR purposes, and we still make headlines in bad ways, but nothing about this says accepting the status quo or DS makes the calls, and both of those are good things

D.C. Sports Bog - A short history of Mike Shanahan benching his quarterback (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/11/a_short_history_of_mike_shanah.html)

it seems like since elway he has been on a search for perfection at the qb position, the only thing is not everyone is a hall of fame qb and sometimes you have to make it work with a guy with less than perfect talents. at some point you have to use whats around you and make it work.

This is so funny on so many levels.

Shanny takes 12 weeks to cut Joey Galloway and then benches his QB for the final three games of the season.

Yea I've been a strong believer in Shanny but its starting to wear off

what are you talking about? shanahan didnt inherit mcnabb. he went out of his way to acquire mcnabb and gave up two high draft picks to do it. this isnt a situation he inherited. its a situation he created himself. thus far, shanahan's took a franchise that was already dead and has made it even worse.

I see your point, but for all we know Shanhan's marching orders from DS could've been;
1) see if you can make some moves to win now
2) build a team for the future

So, in shan's defense, either by his decision or by Snyder's, it sounds like getting McNabb was to make the playoffs & win now to some degree. Now that is over, so he's looking to the future. I appreciate the latter, I just don't think the timing is very smart. Wait till the offseason to make a decision like that. Shanahan has to maintain a good relationship w/the rest of the team, I think he just set himself back a lot in that regard.

I question this move as much as anybody else. But McNabb was shot, there's no denying it. I dont know what Shanahan thought he was getting, but maybe its like FreddyG said. Maybe the Shanahans thought they could get 1 good year out him while all the other pieces fell into place, but the prob was, the pieces never fell.

now we have a tradeable commodity. 5th rounder better than no rounder.

Our only hope is that some GM called & said,
"we'll take him off your hands in the offseason & get you back at least 1 of your picks, just promise not to play him so he doesn't get hurt!"

I am with you I want him to be successfully so we don't have to go through all this BS again of starting over and finding a new coach, etc...It is getting old and something needs to work.

If we lose MS either by him quitting or getting fired, we be lucky to get Jim Zorn back, that is how bad folks won't want to come here.
