What happened to the NFC?

This once proud conference that dominated in the 90s, now only one team, the Eagles has a legit shot winning the Superbowl and even they will struggle against the AFC's best. Please don't tell me about Atlanta or any other NFC team. This conference is Philly's to win or choke. If Philly does choke, the AFC wins the Superbowl by double digits easy.

I feel philly will choke, it may be the NFC title game, but they will. I really think if Seattle could get some of their D line/Linebackers back (we think WE have it bad on defense as far as injuries go, these guys are missing their top 4 LBs) and their offense stops fumbling, they could be a powerhouse. Holmgren is playing for his job now.

Philly hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and they look much stronger than the team that lost 3 straight NFC Championships.

I think they have a shot against anybody in the AFC. The AFC as a whole is stronger than the NFC, but I think the Eagles are very capable of winning it all.

I have watched Philly play and I'll say this. They are way over rated! I am being as unbiased as possible about this. If I were a Philly fan (must..resist..urge..to kill one self!) I'd be particularly worried again this year. They are certainly the best team in the NFC no doubt but they have been the last few years and that hasn't exactly payed the dividends one would expect. While their offense is clicking with TO and McNabb this is offset by the fact that their defense has been basically average. Their good record is result of an enormously weak conference and the much needed luck every good team seems to generate for itself. I believe they are good and probably even better than they have been but I don't think they are far better than they have been. This is a team of choke artists plain and simple. Their WR corp is weak outside of TO and the backfield is just OK. No dominate runner. Don't even get me started on the abilities of McNabb! He is just not as good as everyone thinks. If any team schemes correctly to shut TO down then Philly becomes merely a good team. Good teams lose a lot of games and Philly has been a good team losing 3 straight NFC championships.
I am convinced they are headed for another tragic defeat to the hands of a lesser team when it counts and that will be MY Superbowl this year just as it has been the last 3. Just like I tell my step-brother "I like watching the Eagles lose ALMOST as much as watching the Redksins win"

I agree with Matty. The Eagles are strong in all phases of the game and are clearly the best team in the NFC and in the top 3 in in the league.

Not a surprise, given their offseason pickups: the iggles are the best team in the NFC and not, I think, overrated. Look, they didn't have TO last year, and they made the NFC championship. So even if you shut down TO, they've got weapons, especially McNabb scrambling and making plays. And while their D is less strong, perhaps, than last year, they've got an excellent aggressive coordinator. D will be their weak link in the SB (if they get there; I'm NOT rooting for them, despite this post), but they are the team to beat on this side of the fence.

You beat philly by ball control and efficient passing in the red zone. We CAN do that, that is our game. But make no mistake: we've got to have the best game of the year, BETTER than last Sunday.

I'm guess I'm not surprised, but is Atlanta really not a legit team? I would think that Vic alone could upset almost anyone on a given night. I wouldn't count the Pack out, given Brett Favre, though the iggles really seem to have his number. Is Moss back? Who else is there?

The AFC is way better as a conference this year, and it's probably been that way for a few years, really. THere are a lot of new coaches in the NFC right now, so maybe that will change as these guys get established, especially Joe Gibbs.

No one is that much better than anyone else in the NFC either, and since the majority of the games are against each other, everyone is beating each other. In the AFC, you have your powerhouse teams, a couple mid level teams, and then a ton of horrible teams. In the NFC you have 1 good team, 1 team you dont know what to think(ATL)and a bunch of average teams. Even teams like GB and Minnestoa arent anything special and they are the only teams with winning records besides Atl/Phi.

This is a downside to inter-conference play.

Noone in the NFC can keep up with Philly's firepower on offense. The only way a team in the NFC can beat them is if the slow the game down. Philly's run defense is not very good, and it is definitely a possibility. The worst super bowl scenario for me this year would be philly vs. jets. I do not think Philly can beat Pittsburgh, but if New England doesnt get their starting CB's back, I think the birds can definitely take the Pats. A wild game would be Philly-Indy. The teams would combine for more points than an NBA game.
